In Dilexi te, Pope Leo poses an urgent challenge for Christians in the US and around the world: “Either we regain our moral and spiritual dignity or we fall into a cesspool."
After some prayer this past month, I've decided to leave Twitter. While Twitter used to be a place where I made genuine relationships with people online, today it lacks connection, peace, care, and Gospel witness. I'll explain more soon, but for now, find me on Bluesky.
Tomorrow, I will join 7 of my brothers in Italy for a 30 day solemn vow retreat. I will be off social media for the most part during this time. Please keep me and my brothers in your prayers as we travel to prepare for our final vows to the Order of Friars Minor....

Pope Leo XIV on war in Iran:
"I think this has already been made very clear: the notion of a just war no longer applies. The problem is that just war theory developed in centuries when no one could have imagined the weapons we have today or humanity's capacity for destruction." – at Coslada, España
In honor of Marjane Satrapi passing away, I was able to pick up a copy of the 20th anniversary edition of Persepolis at my local comic store. I'll be reading it for the first time physically during my solemn vow retreat this month. Rest in peace to an absolute legend.
“We are ruled by cretins and cowards. From our universities to our courts, our institutions have not met the present moment with courage. Thank God then for the pope. He is still a mere mortal, he is not perfect, but he is proving to be a much-needed force for good. He is speaking truth to a higher power.”theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Se ha muerto Marjane Satrapi y el mundo es un lugar más triste. Se va una autora colosal. Que pena más grande.

The Iran War Powers Resolution that I cosponsored (opposing the war) just passed the House of Representatives.
The People’s House is sending a message: end this war.

In the liturgy, we are invited to participate — body, mind, and heart — and enter into a dimension inhabited by the Holy Spirit. In order to enter into this dimension, the liturgy is woven with signs and symbols that have a performative and transformative dimension. #GeneralAudience

At @CBR, I interviewed Moon Knight star artist @TheWarblazer about his career and his current work on Marc Spector: Moon Knight, the series Marvel launched as the first one to be officially "Jed MacKay and Devmalya Pramanik's Moon Knight."

It's kind of preposterous to me that we still make everyday household items like DVD cases in plastic that most recycling centers won't recycle.

Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
In an AI generated video and message, the WH is again condemning immigrants who come to the US. Pope Leo recently wrote in Magnifica Humanitas: “Thus, the ‘rejected stones’ — the poor, the sick, the migrants, and the least among us — will become the cornerstone, and a solid, welcoming common home will emerge on the earth, where love and faithfulness will finally meet, and righteousness and peace will embrace.”

Eid Mubarak to all fellow Muslims around the world! Wishing you and your family a mübarek Bayram-ı Şerif, as we also say in Turkish.
Great to read this piece by my professor from CTU, Steve Millies. Give it a read if you have time.
Millies: "Since the early 2000s (if not longer), religious leaders [e.g. Barron] have taken the religious language present at the founding of the United States for proof of something they want to see. They have ignored a lot of history to do it." commonwealmagazine.org/milli…

THIS.
"If a system is designed or used in a way that treats some lives as less worthy, or excludes them without the possibility of appeal, then it is not merely a tool 'to be used well,' since it has already introduced criteria that contradict the inalienable dignity of the human person." @Pontifex in #DignitasHumanitas

In the era of #ArtificialIntelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. #MagnificaHumanitas
