Trauma video review (TVR) is a valuable tool for understanding and improving resuscitation performance. A recent study leveraging the Trauma Black Box® explores how computer vision can support TVR by automatically identifying trauma resuscitation phases and detecting key procedures. The model demonstrated 98% accuracy in phase segmentation and strong performance in identifying procedures such as X-rays and central line placement. The study also notes opportunities to further strengthen procedure detection, underscoring the potential for continued model refinement. As interest grows in integrating AI into acute care workflows, innovations like this may help teams review cases more efficiently and enhance quality initiatives. Automating TVR processes has the potential to make video-based performance review more accessible, scalable, and actionable, ultimately improving trauma resuscitation quality across centers. Recent research demonstrates pairing in-situ OR team simulation with OR Black Box® analytics can enhance surgical safety checklist performance.
