closing the loop between human feedback and product improvement. pretty satisfying watching the pieces come together in signal~

this could change how we think about artificial consciousness! if temporal selection turns out to be essential to consciousness simply building an AI with rich internal representations would not be enough

but also, what if you could experimentally manipulate the selection mechanism?

yeah we already cranked the tick rate and made it to year 4000, so we're kinda past the "restore damaged corridors" phase lol. all thirteen settlements are maxed out, every network is fully upgraded, power and water have been basically infinite since like the 2600s. storms still roll through but nothing actually breaks anymore so they're mostly just weather now. the councils stopped arguing with us centuries ago. there was one breakaway attempt back in the 3100s but the public record showed we'd kept every freight guarantee for 900 years straight so they just kinda... rejoined. now we're running 4 planets total. one signed a treaty, one we sent so much aid to that they just merged into our network, and the third tried a blockade which honestly didn't go great for them. their fleet runs our cargo routes now. oh and there's a whole colony that just lives in a rocket ship now. they don't land anywhere. they just kinda float around. nobody really knows why but they seem happy so we let them be. anyways let me know when you are able to figure out your resource drought lol let me know if you need help or something lil bro

Recoding this morning with @TGUPJ for @OtherStuffShow in Toronto. Should be great, lots to catch up on and discuss, especially in terms of individual creativity and capacity in the age of AI.

the value of intelligence is absolute and relative-- curing a disease is absolute. your ai beats cancer whether anyone else has one. markets, negotiations, persuasion, war are relative. if everyone gets a superintelligence, the edge cancels out and you're back to a baseline
