I’m always helping other authors. It makes sense, since someone who visits their table at a show might not be into the story or content of their books, but might be for mine and vice versa. We can help each other, which as independent authors is helpful.
The competition thing between indie authors has never made sense to me.
The reader who just finished your book wants the next thing — it might as well be another author you know. The people doing well for years are usually the ones who send readers elsewhere, and it comes back around. Not always to you, not always soon. But it does.
