#ShellFoundation is excited to support the first cohorts of climate-smart helped by the ClimaFii Alliance, a partnership between Shell Foundation, with co-funding by the @TEAEnergyAccess platform, @Accion, @BFAGlobal, and @UpayaSV.
The ClimaFii Alliance is accelerating access to #cleanenergy and #inclusivefinance for microenterprises across India and sub-Saharan Africa. These early-stage innovators are developing solutions like solar-powered processing tools, electric vehicles, and #cleancooking technologies which are all designed to raise incomes while cutting emissions.

Through #ENACTUS, we gathered 60+ champions—from 10 cities, ministries, development partners & market-entry pioneers—driving access in hard-to-reach #urban areas.
To scale off-grid solar in Somalia, @Acumen, with support from the British Embassy Mogadishu and UK aid via the TEA platform, has invested $1m through the Hardest-to-Reach Initiative.
It combines local expertise, catalytic capital and #solar potential to expand #EnergyAccess.

Kofa has successfully closed an $8.1 million pre-Series A funding round! This investment, including catalytic debt and grants, will supercharge Kofa's AI-driven battery-swapping network, expanding clean energy access across urban #Africa.
#ShellFoundation’s contribution is through catalytic debt and grants, co-funded with the UK Government's @TEAEnergyAccess platform. In line with Shell Foundation’s mission to raise incomes while lowering emissions for tens of millions of people, Kofa's technology has significant potential for scale, supporting solutions that help transporters, smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs.
The funding will accelerate Kofa's expansion into three major cities across West and East Africa, starting with #Ghana and #Kenya.

📢 New report from Shell Foundation: Assessment of Women Livelihoods within the Climate-Smart sector
#ShellFoundation is proud to announce the release of our latest report, developed in collaboration with @OCA_Africa, with co-funding with UK aid from the UK Government through the @TEAEnergyAccess platform. This report highlights the potential for women's employment and entrepreneurship in climate-smart sectors across Sub-Saharan #Africa. By 2030, the research estimates up to 1.2 million new jobs for low-income women in clean cooking, food and agri-processing, and e-mobility sectors.
To maximise the potential for employment and entrepreneurship for low-income women within the climate-smart sectors, it is important to identify and address some of the key challenges that these #women face, including gender biases, social stereotypes, and limited access to mentorship, training and finance.
The report provides recommendations that address the root-causes of the challenges. It also goes one-step further in grounding the recommendations by including design considerations that must be factored in for certain recommendations to be practical, implementable and bring about outcomes that are sought.
