Before you commit to the long print, print the critical interface as a tiny test piece.
A 20-minute fit check can save hours of filament, sanding, and rework. The best prototype is often the one that answers one question.
I’m a CISSP and security leader who still likes getting hands-on.
If you’re into:
• Security or cloud
• Solo projects or home labs
Connect or follow. I’m here for practical notes from people shipping, testing, and improving real systems.
Meta's 816B-parameter Muse Spark Open now runs locally on two Mac Studios.
That's about $22K of hardware, and your prompts never leave the building.
For regulated shops, that's not a toy. It might be cheaper than one more AI vendor security review.
First question I ask a security vendor isn't about features.
It's "how do I get my data out and shut you off?"
If they fumble the exit plan, they'll fumble the incident too.
A cheap ESP32 display plus a 3D-printed case just became a kids' learning device.
40 games. No ads, no accounts, no cloud.
The best security feature in consumer tech is still the network connection you never built.

If the rollback plan is an afterthought, the launch plan isn’t ready.
Write the stop condition, owner, and recovery steps before the change window. It forces the team to decide what failure looks like while everyone is calm.
Ticket counts don’t show the real cost of support.
Track interruptions, repeat questions, and the time it takes people to get back into focused work. One “quick question” can cost more than the ticket suggests.
Europe doesn’t have a startup shortage. It has a scaling tax: 27 company-law systems to navigate.
EU Inc was meant to make cross-border building simpler. If negotiations strip out common rules and usable equity options, the label won’t fix the friction.
Here’s the reporting on EU Inc: tech.eu/2026/10/16/eu-inc-wi…
PCB inspection isn’t only for factories with six-figure machines.
A webcam, a servo, and an edge AI model can catch missing parts on small batches. The real unlock is making quality checks cheap enough to run every build.

Autonomous trucking is leaving the demo phase.
A five-year federal exemption clears a safety rule, Waymo adds $5B in debt, and Kodiak is running a 435-mile freight route.
The next AI infrastructure story won't be a chatbot. It'll be moving stuff while nobody's watching.
If every decision needs your approval, you haven’t delegated the work.
You’ve delegated the typing.
Set the constraints, define what needs escalation, then let the team decide inside those boundaries. What decision are you still holding too tightly?
An alert that says “suspicious activity detected” is half a job.
Give on-call the user, asset, likely impact, and the safe next action. If responders have to rebuild the context from scratch, the alerting system is exporting toil.
Side projects don’t stall because the founder forgot to dream bigger.
They stall under the same weekly admin: chasing invoices, copying status, answering the same question again.
Automate one repeatable nuisance before you build another feature. What’s the task you’re tired of doing?
Shadow AI is usually an inventory problem before it's a policy problem.
Ask teams what they're using, what data goes in, and what task it saves. Then approve the safe workflows and block the risky ones.
You can't govern tools you refuse to see.
