We're not rethinking punishment in ECE.
Let's agree to agree and stop.
I don't call punishment a practice or strategy.

It is so important to never forget that behavior is communication. Rather than reacting to the behavior, look deeper and more often than not you'll realize the cause. In the end it takes a bit more time, but the results are long lasting.

Self-regulation is a critical skill. Child care programs use a variety of calming techniques to develop these skills. Are parents using similar techniques? Children will benefit from consistency. #FamilyFriday #ECE #ksece #selfregulation owl.li/GMyp30mqH8V

I’m moved toward 1 disturbing conclusion:
Disparities in child outcomes are largely due to disparities in how we view children & in resource allocation, which are largely due to our biases & systemic racism & other isms, which are largely due to our empathy deficits.
