Session 1 of Fasig-Tipton October is done, and the pinhook tracker is updated.
Pinhooks cleared at 63%, against 76% for the rest of the session, but sold for more: a median $42.5K against $35K. The 38 that sold returned a median 1.18x before expenses.
See ya tomorrow.

A few people have reached out lately after reading our Insights articles or using our sales trackers to ask what Thoroughbred Intelligence actually does.
Fair question. The public research is only one part of the business, so I thought I’d share a little more.
We also work with owners and investors on racing prospects, acquisition strategy and the economics of owning and trading bloodstock.
A horse can be an exciting racing prospect and still represent a poor investment at the wrong price. We spend a lot of time thinking about both sides.
Our Insights articles and trackers give people a public look at how we approach these questions. Most of our client work is bespoke and confidential.
I still love walking the sales grounds and looking at horses. The technology gives us another perspective to bring to those decisions.

The Jockey Club's annual mares-bred report is one of the most telling public disclosures about the American Thoroughbred industry we get each year. Here's what we took away from this year's release.

After a wonderful experience at @Tattersalls1766 last October and a promising two-year-old campaign from Randie’s Rascal, our first Blue Point import, we returned to Book 2 this year and came home with another Blue Point filly.

Ninety-two Keeneland September RNAs are in the Fasig-Tipton October catalog. They carry a $185,000 median RNA, against $125,000 last year. We set them against five years of October results and each sire’s market.

We spent our budget at Keeneland September, but I still ran the Fasig-Tipton October catalog through our screens. These are the twenty yearlings I’d make time to see: ten to race and ten to pinhook.

I’ve been anxiously anticipating the The Jockey Club's 2026 Report of Mares Bred. It’s out this week. Our analysis covers books, fees and list-price value at 17 Kentucky stallion farms, Spendthrift and Ashford's rosters, and the 2025 first-season class in year two.

Watching Godolphin spend 26.91 million guineas and Coolmore pay 4 million for a Frankel colt at Tattersalls Book 1 last week piqued my curiosity, so I spent the flight to England digging into how the premium books at Tattersalls and Keeneland compare.
