We were thrilled to work with the Texas Legislature on this (HB 1422), as well as the Governors office sexual assault survivor task force and DPS during implementation. The TX sized collaboration is unique in our state and crime victims benefit tremendously as a result. #txlege
Last December, DPS implemented the state’s new Limited Consent for DNA Testing Program, which allows sexual assault survivors to have evidence from their forensic medical exam tested for foreign DNA material – even before a police report is filed.
DPS Crime Laboratory Division Chief Brady Mills talked with @NBCDFW’s @_ShannonMiller about the success of the program in its first 10 months, noting that 360+ cases have been tested so far. Of those, at least 24 turned into criminal investigations.

For a Financial Officer of the 8th (or is it 7th?) largest economy in world- TX Comptroller has a great sense of humor. Not accustomed to entertaining budget/financial talks. As @TAASA closely monitors all things budget in TX. Happy to catch a speech from @Glenn_Hegar
“When a survivors testimony in court is used as a weapon to reverse a guilty sexual assault conviction-feels like the ultimate betrayal” ~@roseluna97
