EXCLUSIVE: Netflix is developing a movie adaptation of "Hatchet," Gary Paulsen’s 1987 young adult survival novel.
• The film will be written and directed by Derek Cianfrance, best known for films such as “Blue Valentine” and “The Place Beyond the Pines.”
• Per the synopsis: “Hatchet” follows “13-year-old Brian Robeson, who is stranded alone in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash with nothing but the hatchet his mother gave him.”
• Paulsen later expanded the story into a five-book series that included “The River” (1991), “Brian’s Winter” (1996), “Brian’s Return” (1999) and “Brian’s Hunt” (2003).

"Fred, George. You've done a brilliant job arming the Mugglehideen. Truly, you have..."
"Thanks mate!"
"Thanks mate!"
"Listen though. As capable as the Mugglehideen are, we can't risk a full frontal assault on Durmstrang."
"Why not?"
"Why not?"
"We've brought entire pallets full of M4s."
"And the cases of Dragunovs."
"And the rocket propelled Cornish pixie launchers."
"Yes, right, But as much firepower as you've brought, the Mugglehideen will run out of shells before Karkaroff and his bellend students run out of spells. And unfortunately the killing curse works just as well as casting GLOCK."
"So what do you suggest?"
"So what do you suggest?"
"Indirect attack. We're outnumbered ten-to-one, so we weaken their forces before we ever fire a shot. Guerilla tactics are why McGonagall and I are here in the first place. See this point on the map, upstream of Durmstrang? That's a water treatment facility. Can you get your hands on any VX compounds?"
"VX compounds!"
"VX compounds!"
"G series nerve agents will do if VX is out of the question."
"That'd be a war crime, Harry!"
"That wasn't a no."
"Of course we can get some, know a guy in Hogsmeade, but we aren't looking to see the inside of a muggle courtroom anytime soon, Harry."
"Not without some serious galleons to compensate us for the risk, my old china."
"Fred, George. Lads. Which government do you think is brave enough to charge Hellfire McGonagall with a war crime?"
"How soon do you need it?"
"How soon do you need it?"
"I was thinking if you could--p-professor? Are you all right? Are you crying?"
"Sorry, Potter. I'm just so proud of you I was caught up in the moment. Within a fortnight, Weasleys. Get it done and you'll have your galleons."
"Look alive Potter, we're almost over the target."

"Potter, this strictly a HILOB entry. High altitude, low brooming. Keep an eye on your altimeter, if hop your broom above 4,000 feet you risk popping off on radar and exposure to crosswinds that'll land you in a forest full of whomping willows. Should you land off target, send up red sparks with your wand, only red sparks. The red spectrum preserves your night vision and will be harder for the enemy to detect than white light."
"Red sparks? Like during the Tri-Wizard tournament?"
"Of course, Potter. You think we don't use real training tactics at our school for child sold--child wizards..."

I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.
