It’s a shame that people treat fiction like it’s real life and refuse to engage with icky or disgusting things out of some moral grandstanding act. Not to “media literacy is dead” this but I think there’s been a really bad shift in how people engage with fiction

it's really too bad that so few people aren't interested in grooming from a narrative standpoint because its so so fucking interesting when executed well

regardless of how that depiction is handled, these things are, objectively, tools of authors and aspects of art that have existed for much longer than any of us. It’s not even that it’s wrong to dislike these tools or have disdain for them, it’s how that conversation is had

the widening of this never ending socratic seminar has made the average person, who doesn’t understand the concept of engaging with fiction past happily praising something, the drivers of the conversation. And that sucks!

Imagine sacrificing yourself, becoming a mindless beast without humanity or memories, yet loving him so deeply that his mere existence guides you back to him after 10,000 years drifting through the heavens. You don’t really believe in any gods, but in him. Only in him. #zelink

i.e. there is a trans genocide happening in the united states right now and many, MANY democrats are directly contributing to it, so do not get complacent

the american political machine is a representation of the countries foundation of genocide, racism, and oppression. everyone apart of it is complicit. i'd like to think most ppl understand this context whenever discussing and celebrating american elections, but they don't.

blue wave is fun until a deep blue state (WA) is voting to pass an initiative that bans trans girls from playing school sports and subjects girls to genital checks to verify they arent trans before they are allowed to play.

these wins are like "there is a path to a possible progressive coating of american fascism that will materially improve some people's lives here in the U.S. but will continue to propagate and fund genocide on domestic & foreign soil"

i think the urge to clarify this amidst everyone being very very happy about the midterms is probably fruitless but it'd be nice if more people started to understand that the problem lies deeper than republicans not being in charge
