Tivoli's founder, Georg Carstensen (b. 1812 – d. 1857), obtained a five-year charter to create Tivoli by telling King Christian VIII that "when the people are amusing themselves, they do not think about politics". #Tivoli_Gardens bit.ly/4frtQJm

Dr. Nayan Chakraborty (Ph.D., NCBS-TIFR) was awarded the 2026 SynTalk Medal yesterday. The third out of a total of 177 to be awarded annually until 2200 AD.

UPDATE: Dr. Nayan Chakraborty (NCBS-TIFR, Bangalore) has been awarded the 2026 SynTalk Medal. CITATION: Dr. Chakraborty is awarded this Medal for his novel interdisciplinary re-modeling, experimentation and study of the emergence of 'proto-cells' from certain specific abiotic molecules. His work itself is fecund, and could trigger conceptual resolution in a number of areas at the cusp of biology (& more). We hope that Dr. Chakraborty would continue to work creatively (with a playful disregard for disciplinary boundaries) to further our understanding of the world from a long term perspective. Ahem.

Stampede You are the product of a stampede Of boots and uneven trampling Of jostling and slipping And mashed up sweaty bodies slithering. Of time getting bashed up, and torn Flung aside, like in a violent crash When tar thrashed your flesh and bone As you lay drooling beat up and au mash. The thing is. That. When a stampede is happening With you in the eye, you hear and see Flashes of lashing rains somehow En you’re pulped up, yes, but it’s wow. (Lee Krasner, Polar Stampede, 1960)

#SynTalk_BTL: #SynTalk records its 194th episode (#TTEHOW, The To-Each-Her-Own World) today. Thank you.
