I don’t know when we decided to toss all decency and basic respect for Taylor’s personal life out the window, but the complete disregard for her privacy lately and the way people are justifying it is really upsetting.
It’s not okay to share photos that Taylor isn’t aware are being taken or doesn’t want to be taken. Sharing photos that were taken via drone at a friend’s private wedding event in REAL TIME is not okay. Sharing photos that were secretly taken while they exit their private jet (with umbrellas to conceal themselves!!!) is not okay.
If Taylor chooses not to share something, it’s for a reason. Whether it’s for safety or simply because she wants to keep some parts of her life private, and her fans should respect that.
I know we’re all dying to see photos from her wedding and are excited for her new married life, but the lack of content isn’t an excuse to share photos that are a blatant violation of her privacy. I expect this from paparazzi and money hungry media outlets like the Daily Mail and TMZ, but not from fans.
If you’re trying to justify this behavior by saying it’s acceptable because the photos were already shared to the internet anyways, you’re wrong. We should not be distributing those photos and allowing them to spread like wildfire.
This isn’t an attack on anyone personally. It’s a genuine observation I’ve made in recent weeks. We can all do better. Please be mindful of what you’re sharing and respect Taylor’s personal life.
