In the trailer “I get how you’re feeling” “no you don’t” seems like two men thrashing under the spell of an enchantress, in the film it’s “shut up already and let me actually interview her”
Man I love The Leftovers good thing it’s fiction and if there was an event that killed 2% of the population we all would have been super normal about it
Believing in the death penalty is like believing in Santa Claus “yeah if someone is a really bad person and only then the state just magically puts them to sleep forever”
if you believe in anything other than prison abolition you should be forced to watch all six seasons of OZ (1997)

Sometimes I do have mixed feelings about the violent rhetoric towards rapists not because I think its too much but because its not real and in reality people get squeamish about simple ways of keeping rapists out of power or warning people about them
You can’t argue with or rehabilitate most misogynists because they fundamentally don’t see women as fully formed beings with their own inner worlds
Insane that the woman is anonymous, a true Jane Doe, and people are still trying to rip apart her character to somehow justify the actions of rapists

“Being a servant leader” is crazy
Replying to @unionnick @Cornell
At Cornell, one person— Christina Liang — handles every disciplinary case, including the Cornell Seven’s and the suspensions of over 40 protestors. Liang wrote in 2025 that “2024 was one of the most challenging years of my career…and it helped me learn that caring less is okay.”
It’s really cool how we’re all obsessed with a movie about exploitation that says it’s easier to mythologize evil rather than look at it as part of human nature and in ourselves and at the same time everyone on here can’t stop bullying a disabled person, wonder what that is
New York media has had a field day digging into the backgrounds of socialist leaders like NYC-DSA Cochair Gustavo Gordillo.
But what exactly is the “gotcha” — that some people who lead comfortable, secure lives want security and comfort for everyone? jacobin.com/2026/08/dsa-gord…

Sometimes in LA you’ll meet someone so vibrant and fun, so open and confident. And then you talk to them for five more minutes and realize they’re like that because they think they’ve found the answer to everything and their answer is ketamine
Comedian and former late-night bandleader Reggie Watts is a proud ketamine enthusiast.
Loved ones of his ex-girlfriend Katherine McCollough claim she became addicted to the drug through Watts’ encouragement to take a heavy array of psychedelics in the name of enlightenment. McCollough died by suicide in March.

ketamine fiends are more akin to cult leaders than addicts
Replying to @RollingStone
McCollough’s friends and sister hope her story can prevent others who heed Watts’ blanket endorsement of psychedelics from falling into addiction.
“I'm so afraid that him being so cavalier is going to lead to irreparable harm or death of another person.”
