EXCLUSIVE: Earlier today ICE agents chase after a man in downtown Chicago after he made verbal comments but no physical or threatening contact. The man was able to get away.
Chicago has two data center moratoriums. Neither has had a hearing.
Both have sat in the City Council’s Rules Committee since Sept. 23. The Council took no action on Oct. 14, and its next scheduled meeting is Dec. 8.
Part Six, from the public record.
Dec. 8 is the first meeting where a member can move to pull the moratoriums out of Rules. It takes 26 votes.
It is also one day after the deadline to put a question on the Feb. 23 ballot. Ald. Andre Vasquez has filed one asking 40th Ward voters about a data center moratorium.
What the Council did pass on Oct. 14: a 49-0 resolution urging Springfield to pass the POWER Act. In committee on Oct. 8 it was amended to name SB4016 instead of the House bill. SB4016 has had no committee vote.

Flock cameras are just one of many endpoints in Chicago, but they are the ones people understand. Red light cameras have been around for decades. Closed-circuit cameras have been in place even longer. Censors are everywhere in the city.
Around 1:40 central time on October 4, 2026, outside of Seat Geek Stadium an unknown type of explosive device was tossed and detonated near the crowd. You can see a man reacting to the explosion. This occurred at the “Crusaders March” hosted by Jake Lang in Bridgeview, Illinois, where a number of counter-protestors showed up as well as multiple law enforcement agencies from around the region.

Chicago is a party to the state case that decides what a data center pays to plug into the grid and what everyone else pays if it doesn't.
The City has one witness in that case.
He works at O'Hare.
Who is making the argument that data centers should pay for the capital built to serve them?
The Citizens Utility Board.
Its brief does not name the City of Chicago or the airport.
Three FOIA productions. 413 pages. Four dockets. Every page read.
The Law Department answered eleven questions and declined to say whether the City will testify for residential customers.
The hearing is October 15.
