I just finished Kuper Island. The ending was heartbreaking. All those children. All the survivors. It’s good that their stories are being told.
Have you had a chance to listen to Kuper Island?
The 8-part series tells the stories of four students: three who survived and one who didn’t. They attended one of Canada’s most notorious residential schools.
All episodes available now: hyperurl.co/kuperisland

ALT Artwork designed by Eliot White-Hill. The piece is a variation of the Kuper Island logo. The faces of the four students are visible but they are held by two thunderbirds. The students are now in the foreground, with the dark building of the Kuper Island Residential School fading into the background.

I'll keep adding as I go. Shoutout to TDSB instructional coaches who hoard and share everything!

Chilling artwork from a grade 11 student who said that we need to remember the children who once stood in those shoes. We need to know they were sons and daughters of parents who they were stolen from. We need to remember that those shoes beat hearts who felt pain.

The way to understand the panic over critical race theory is as a reactionary counter-mobilization. After George Floyd’s murder & ensuing wave of protests, a focus on racism in America took on new urgency. Fearmongering over CRT is largely a project to delegitimize that movement.
