This is a crisis in and of itself, but if we take the right actions now, this crisis could prove transformative and ultimately hopeful. If we fail to act, our descent into fascism is all but guaranteed. 14/

In this harrowing account, ⁦@AssociatedPress⁩ journalists say they were being hunted by Russia in #Mariupol. "They had a list of names, including ours…we had been documenting the siege by Russian troops...and were the only journalists left..." apnews.com/article/russia-uk…

Y’all know white supremacists are organizing in Canada as well, right? And have been using anti-masker rallies to recruit? Canadians really seem to glaze over and forget these things, much like slavery, segregation, residential schools, and genocide.

I can't stress this enough: From the top down, if the people responsible for today's events face no consequences for what they've done, the next time will be much worse. If a political line is crossed, either enforce its existence or accept that the line no longer exists.

I see the “our guardrails were effective” & “the system worked” takes are out. If I’m driving & by the time I get to my destination, my car lost two wheels, the engine’s smoking & every emergency light is on, I don’t think “wow the car worked!” I think “I gotta fix this asap.”

The purpose should not be RETRIBUTION. The purpose should be JUSTICE. And justice means consequences for causing harm, restoration of those who have BEEN harmed. Blowing past that so we can "move on" is INJUSTICE. Forgiving those who show no remorse is INJUSTICE.
