NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2026 – UTribe (Ubuntu Tribe), the organisation that provides free, mobile-first online learning to Nigerians, is represented at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, taking place during High-Level Week, September 22-29, in New York.
Madame Pascale Bartholomeeusen, Global Head of Government Relations & Business Development, is representing UTribe at the Nigeria NYC sessions, where discussions are focused on digital inclusion, skills and economic opportunity. UTribe's participation follows its role as an implementation and technology partner for SheIsIncluded, a national initiative supported by the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) that aims to bring 10 million Nigerian women into the economy.
Through Ubuntu Tribe Academy, learners enrol on the mobile devices they already own, study practical, job-relevant content in local languages at no cost, and complete their courses with a verifiable credential recognised by employers and financial institutions.
"A woman should not need wealth or proximity to opportunity to develop a valuable skill," said Mamadou Kwidjim Toure, Founder of Ubuntu Tribe. "Ubuntu's role is to put that opportunity within reach through the phone already in her hand and a credential the economy can recognise."
UTribe's presence at UNGA81 brings a Nigerian delivery model for skills and digital inclusion into a global conversation on how international cooperation can reach people where they live.

In October 2025, I stood before the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Cryptocurrency Adoption and POS Operations, alongside other stakeholders and ecosystem players, presenting on behalf of the @BlockchainNG Nigeria User Group, now the #Blockchain #Experts #Association of Nigeria (BEAN), where I serve as Co-Founder and Executive Board Member.
Our core message was simple. Nigeria's virtual asset ecosystem was not being held back by a lack of regulation. It was being held back by fragmented regulation. #SEC, #CBN, #FIRS, #ONSA and other agencies were working in silos, with overlapping mandates in some areas and dangerous gaps in others. We called for one thing above all: harmonisation.
Yesterday, #President #Bola #Ahmed #Tinubu, #GCFR, signed the Presidential #Executive #Order on Virtual Assets Coordination, 2026. It answers that call.
The Order establishes a Virtual Asset Council chaired by the #CBN, with the #NRS and #SEC as Vice-Chairs, and the #NFIU and #ONSA as members. A #Virtual #Asset Office will serve as its operational arm. The Order also mandates a Harmonised Implementation Framework within 30 days, a #regulatory #sandbox for virtual asset #innovation, and a coherent tax policy for the sector.
Just as important is what the Order does not do. It does not create a new regulator, and it does not strip any agency of its statutory mandate. This is coordination, not consolidation, and that distinction matters for every VASP, exchange and builder in this market.
For operators, it promises an end to conflicting directives from different agencies. For #investors, it signals that #Nigeria is serious about #regulatory clarity in a market processing over 50 billion dollars in annual crypto transactions. For the young Nigerians driving adoption, it protects an industry that has already created more than 100,000+ jobs.
Advocacy works. When industry shows up with data, structure and solutions, #government listens. This Executive Order is proof that the conversations we have been having at the National Assembly, in policy committees, and across the ecosystem since 2016 are bearing fruit.
The next 30 days will be critical. The Implementation Framework will determine whether this coordination becomes real or remains on paper. Our job as stakeholders is to engage the #Council constructively and ensure that industry voices shape that framework.
Nigeria is not just adopting digital assets. We are learning to govern them, together.

All important conversations but still mostly theoretical.
