๐ World Mental Health Day 2026 ๐
Today, we are reminding everyone that mental health matters and nobody should have to face difficult times alone.
At Supporting Communities, we support young people and families experiencing challenges including anxiety, low confidence, isolation, difficult relationships and poor emotional wellbeing.
Through personalised 1:1 support, practical guidance and positive activities, we provide a safe space where people can talk, feel heard and begin taking positive steps forward.
Please take a moment today to check in with someone. A simple conversation, a kind message or taking the time to listen can make a real difference.
If you or someone you know could benefit from our support, please get in touch:

๐ Support that starts with you
At Supporting Communities, our 1:1 youth and family services offer personalised support to help young people, parents, and families build confidence, improve wellbeing, and work through everyday challenges.
Alongside practical advice and emotional support, positive activities give families and young people the chance to try something new, spend time together, and create happy memories. ๐
We need your support to help make this possible.
Donations help us pay for everyday essentials for families facing hardship, as well as activities and experiences that they may otherwise be unable to afford. This could mean help with food, toiletries or clothing, or the opportunity to enjoy a creative session, cinema visit or day out.
Every contribution, whatever the size, helps us respond to the needs of the people we support.

๐งน๐ SPONDON COMMUNITY LITTER PICK ๐๐งน
@SupportingCIO organised a community litter pick in partnership with Spondon McDonaldโs, giving local young people the opportunity to take part in positive social action and make a real difference in their community. ๐โจ
The young people worked together to collect litter from local streets and green spaces, helping to make the area cleaner, safer and more welcoming for everyone. ๐๏ธ๐ณ It was fantastic to see them showing teamwork, taking responsibility and demonstrating pride in their local community. ๐ค๐ช
Activities like this help young people build confidence, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and recognise the positive role they can play within their community. ๐๐
A huge thank you to @DerbyCC for providing the litter pickers and equipment that made the activity possible. ๐งน๐
Afterwards, the young people received a free McDonaldโs meal as a well-deserved reward for all their hard work and effort! ๐๐๐ฅค
Most importantly, well done to every young person who took part. You should be incredibly proud of the positive difference you made! ๐๐

๐ณ๐ 1:1 YOUTH SUPPORT AT ELVASTON CASTLE ๐๐ณ
As part of our 1:1 youth support, a young person recently enjoyed a positive activity at Elvaston Castle and Country Park.
Our team delivers a number of positive trips and activities like this every week. These experiences give young people opportunities to talk openly, build confidence, improve their wellbeing, and develop trusted relationships with their Youth Support Practitioners.
It was great to see the young person enjoying the outdoors, exploring their local area, and making positive memories.
At Supporting Communities, we believe that early intervention is prevention, and every young person deserves someone who will listen, encourage and support them. ๐

๐ WELL DONE TO OUR YOUNG COMMUNITY LEADERS! ๐
A huge well done to the young people at the Ironville Railway Carriage Youth Club who stepped forward and took a leadership role as Community Insights Facilitators.
@SupportingCIO working alongside the @NHSDDICB @Derbyshirecc and @JoinedUpCare, our young people helped gather valuable insights from local residents about:
๐ What life is like in their community
๐ What helps people stay healthy and well
๐ The challenges local people face
๐ How local health, wellbeing and community services could be improved
Their work will help ensure local voices are heard, influence future decisions and contribute to the Director of Public Healthโs Annual Report.
We are incredibly proud of the confidence, teamwork and leadership they demonstrated. This project shows that young people should not only be included in community conversations, they can help lead them!
๐ Well done to everyone involved!

๐ Our Youth & Family Support Services Need Your Help ๐
At @SupportingCIO, we believe ๐ Early Intervention is Prevention.
Right now, demand for our Youth & Family Support Services is higher than ever.
๐ Referrals to our Youth & Family Support Services have increased by over 60%
โณ Waiting times have increased by 30%, which is around 4 weeks longer, because funding isn't keeping pace with demand. This means more children, young people, and families are waiting longer for the timely support they need, increasing the risk that problems escalate before we can help.
โ ๏ธ To manage demand, we've had to reduce some community sessions and reallocate our limited resources so we can prioritise those most in need.
๐ค Every week, our team invests hundreds of hours supporting children, young people and families, helping them improve their wellbeing, build resilience and access the support they need.
๐ท At the same time, our spending on activities, essential items and support for young people and families has increased, while our support budget continues to reduce under the pressure of growing demand.
We urgently need to increase our resources so we can:
๐ Reduce waiting times
๐ Support more children, young people and families
๐ Restore and expand our services
๐ Continue providing life-changing early intervention
You can help make a difference.
Whether you're a local business or an individual, you can support us by donating, fundraising, becoming a corporate partner, or organising a fundraising event.
