I'm sad to report that Rubles is no longer available to offer her cat services. RIP Rubles (5/7/11-2/2/24). Stomach cancer is a bitch. 😭

Two points: first, there is no 'after Covid'. There is 'after the end of societal non-pharmaceutical interventions'. Second, Covid can cause both prolonged fatigue and prolonged cognitive dysfunction. Because Covid is so common, population level effects are inevitable.

Sorry but why is it not common knowledge among the medical profession that SarsCov2 reactivates viruses?
Not just EBV, herpes viruses too, chickenpox, all latent viruses.
Also TB. Lyme. So not just viruses.
Do they really not know this by now?

“Havoc is hitting hospitals as patients hospitalized for some other acute illness are getting COVID”
Is a sentence you would never have read if the pandemic actually ended like all of you are pretending it did.
Wake the fuck up people
"Everyone who caught COVID before will catch it again, because your immunity is no longer going to work. Your immune system tends to forget about COVID fairly quickly, and then you also have it mutating away from the immunity that you do have."

2020, during peak Covid "lockdowns", overall suicide rates in the United States unexpectedly dropped by 3%.
Shockingly, there was an UNPRECEDENTED 25% drop in YOUTH suicides in March 2020, exactly when school closures forced lockdowns.
But we don't talk about that, do we?
Why?

The quicker we forget the pandemic the quicker we forget how easy it was for governments to ban evictions, forbid creditors from chasing debtors, find the homeless homes, provide a universal basic income and more. All the things we are told are impossible

"ThE pAnDeMiC eNdEd!" 🤡
The long-term impact of Covid has cemented the virus as a persistent, major cause of chronic illness and disability worldwide. As Covid continues to mutate and reinfect populations, the cumulative burden on public health and the workforce remains severe.

We lost our 4 year-old cat to Covid in 2022. Our pets are definitely susceptible.

People who say "cats are low-maintenance pets" have no idea how prone cats are to organ failure. They don't get enough taurine, heart and eye problems. They don't drink enough water, kidney failure. They don't get meat, liver failure. They eat a random houseplant, organ failure.

If you are in New York City and are too sick to cook for yourself, there is an organization interested in delivering free prepared meals to more Long COVID and ME patients!
God's Love We Deliver has been quite an institution in New York - they started out delivering food during the AIDS crisis and have grown to a $30 million/year non-profit. But when I went to apply, I quickly found out that though they serve pretty much all of the "traditional" illnesses - Parkinsons, ALS, etc. - they don't support complex chronic conditions!
So I've been doing some personal advocacy. Over the last few months, I've emailed, and called, and emailed, and called, speaking to several different people and making the case for how debilitating Long COVID and ME are. Finally, I was able to convince them to accept my application.
Once I was connected to the nutritionist assigned to my case, I had a long call with her and she was blown away that someone could be bedbound from Long COVID - she had never heard of such a thing! So I convinced her that I should help get the word out in our community and she agreed.
GLWD delivers frozen meals weekly: five lunches and five dinners, and they work with you to customize nutrition based on your specific needs.
I have finally been well enough the last two weeks where I can get out of bed for a few minutes to roll over to the microwave, and it is such a joy to eat warm food again.
If you or anyone you know is in NYC and could use meal delivery, I'm happy to walk you through how to apply and answer any questions.

PSA people don’t need to be sober and drug free to deserve food, shelter, and kindness.

Keeping everyone (including Africans) completely ignorant about Africa and the central role it plays in the economic and natural world is a core feature of Europeanised education, not a bug.
You're not supposed to know that the DRC is the most resource-rich country in the world, with an estimated $24 trillion sitting under its soil. You're not supposed to know that the rise of "western civilisation" from the 15th century on was entirely made possible by European contact with Africa, and that the resources and labour extracted from coastal West Africa from 1492 onwards are the entire reason why both American continents exist in their current form.
You're not supposed to know that both WW1 and WW2 were essentially wars fought over the right to African colonial domination and expansion, and that even the uranium that was used in "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki came from Shinkolobwe uranium mine in eastern DRC. You're not supposed to know that the reason the country of France exists in its current form is because tens of thousands of conscripted West African soldiers fought and won against the Nazis in Europe, and the French thereafter shipped them back to West Africa and massacred them at Camp Thiaroye in Senegal to avoid paying them their due wages.
You're not supposed to know that there was nothing cold about the so-called Cold War, because the vast majority of the hot theaters it was physically fought in were on the continent of Africa. (Zimbabwe, DRC, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Angola, Eritrea, Zambia etc). You're not supposed to know that the ongoing Ukraine war and the war in the Sahel are in fact the same conflict being fought by the same 2 sides, and that the reason France is desperately pushing funding and arms to Ukraine even as it falls into internal crisis is that Ukraine is acting as its proxy army in West Africa, as it tries to regain its lost colonial territories there, especially Niger where the cheap yellowcake uranium for its famously cheap nuclear energy used to come from before the 2023 revolution.
You're definitely not supposed to know that the entire global economy and system of trade as you know it is built on ruthless extraction from Africa and ensuring that Africa does not control anything it exports. You're not supposed to know that "Italian leather" doesn't come from Italy - it comes from Kano, Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that "Swiss chocolate" does not exist because cocoa does not grow anywhere in Switzerland or Europe - it comes from Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that Israel and the UAE control the global diamond and gold markets even though Israel has no diamond mine and the UAE has zero gold mines, because both resources are literally being stolen from the DRC and Sudan on an industrial basis.
You're basically not supposed to understand that the entire geopolitical world as you know it, rests entirely on extraction from Africa, poverty of Africans, and your own ignorance about where everything you use comes from.
Completely deliberate 500+ year-old feature, not accidental bug.

For the folks who still believe that voting for the “right” Democrats or Republicans will improve the material conditions for workers, what is it exactly about the last 50 years that leads you think that?

Amazing that some American workers don’t know how many times soldiers have shot at and killed striking workers, let alone the number of times the police have beaten them up.
Here’s a partial list that doesn’t do the
Labor Movement justice.

There IS consensus on vegan diets for cats. It’s animal abuse. Cats are obligated to carnivores.
PETA tried having a “vegan lion”. The animal starves because their bodies do not get the proper nutrients from plant based foods.
Replying to @smokeMYvomitt
hmm if i’m being completely honest, my cats eat a carnivore diet because there isn’t enough consensus on the benefits of a vegan diet from experts in the field for me to feel comfortable switching. it’s one of my only imperfect vegan moments but i can’t hurt my cats
