The Republican Party of Florida is threatening criminal prosecution of anyone who repeats a Leon County grand jury’s finding that high-ranking state officials diverted $10 million in the Hope Florida scandal. #DefendDemocracy floridatrident.org/florida-g…

Recently released court records in the Hope Florida case reveal how state officials represented by private attorneys fought grand jury findings for months in closed court proceedings that were barred from public view by state law and judicial orders.
Meanwhile, public records show the firms hired to represent the officials racked up hefty legal bills, with some lawyers charging the state $800 an hour.
The use of public funds to pay attorney’s fees for public employees called before a grand jury is barred by a longstanding opinion that is still available on the website of Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier – who was one of the central subjects of the Hope Florida grand jury.

Tonight, fires are raging around St Petersburg after another Ukrainian drone attack. All because a 74-year-old man in the Kremlin decided that conquering his neighbours was more important than giving his own people a future.
Imagine what Russia could have been. Your children studying at universities in Paris, Oxford or Berlin. Families spending summers on the Mediterranean, skiing in the Alps, discovering Rome, Barcelona and Copenhagen. Russian scientists working alongside Europe's finest minds. Businesses flourishing, borders opening, young Russians falling in love, travelling freely and building prosperous lives in the world's most extraordinary neighbourhood.
And Russia's vast oil wealth could have continued filling the national savings account, building a financial cushion for a rainy day and securing the prosperity of future generations. Instead, that fortune has been drained by war, and the country's financial future has been mortgaged to one man's imperial ambitions.
You had an entire continent on your doorstep, ready to trade, cooperate and prosper.
Instead, you have sanctions, burning oil facilities, military funerals, censorship and a generation sacrificed to one elderly man's imperial fantasies. Children raised on militaristic propaganda, families struggling with poverty and alcoholism, and young men sent to die in Ukrainian fields.
And your great international friendship? North Korea. A miserable dictatorship famous for prison camps, hunger, compulsory displays of loyalty and children taught to march in formation.
Now Russia's future is increasingly tied to the failed Trump regime. And if you believe a man whose business empire has seen six corporate bankruptcies involving casinos and hotels is going to rescue the Russian economy, you may be in for another disappointment. Sorry, but Donald Trump is not Russia's financial salvation.
You could have shared Europe's prosperity. Instead, Putin has brought you closer to Pyongyang, with a bankrupt casino magnate as your supposed lifeline.
What a catastrophic waste of a great country's future.
Oh well, anyway.
BREAKING: Ukraine has just struck the St. Petersburg oil port and set it ablaze, with massive fires rising, one of Russia's largest fuel storage and export facilities.
Zelensky said two days ago that Ukraine will restart major strikes on Russian energy. "The block on attacking refineries is out. We're done."

Byron Donalds voted in Congress to preempt local control over data centers. Now, he wants to sell out our state’s pristine land to the AI developers funding his campaign.
Florida doesn’t need special interests calling the shots. On Day One, I’ll issue a one year moratorium on AI data centers.

Black Americans were barred from almost every beach in the South.
So in 1935 the first Black millionaire in Florida bought his own stretch of ocean and opened it to everybody.
Two hundred acres, white sand, bands, hotels, and nobody to tell you to leave. American Beach.
Abraham Lincoln Lewis founded the Afro-American Life Insurance Company in Jacksonville and became Florida's first Black millionaire. He bought the land on Amelia Island so his employees and their families would have somewhere to go.
It became the most important Black resort on the Atlantic coast. Zora Neale Hurston went. Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Joe Louis all played or stayed there.
Look up the photographs. Families in good swimwear beside good cars. Women laughing in the surf. Children buried in sand. It is a complete picture of Black American leisure in the 1940s and 50s, which almost nobody has ever been shown.
Then desegregation opened other beaches, a hurricane took some of it, and developers took most of the rest.
A man bought an ocean so his people could swim. Stories like this are why we document savvypurchase.samcart.com/pr…
