I've open-sourced my home prototype engine with the MIT license.
It contains a AAA-grade animation system, powered ragdolls, my prototype entity model (hybrid-ECS), libclang based reflection. a full resource system.
Hopefully someone finds it useful 😅

Unreal Engine shows good 4.26 adoption.
Top 2 Unreal Engine major version shares:
- 4.26: 50.0%
- 4.25: 31.8%
Godot gets on the radar with one game using that engine, based on the license file.
Since every game is eligible to participate in the festival once, all June games are different from February ones (except one game).
For February breakdown, check: xitter.cf/Sunset_Drive/status/13…
I did a quick experiment to support close other tabs/close tabs to the right in Unity editor windows. No support for built-in windows like Scene, Game, Inspector etc but works well for custom ones. Code: github.com/rfadeev/pump-edit… and wiki: github.com/rfadeev/pump-edit… #unitytips
Game engine research of demos from Steam Game Festival February 2021. I downloaded 101 demo and checked what engine and engine version is used.
Count breakdown:
- Unity: 64 (63.4%)
- Unreal Engine: 20 (19.8%)
- Other: 9 (8.9%)
- GameMaker Studio 2: 6 (5.9%)
- MonoGame: 2 (2.0%)
Top 3 Unreal Engine major version shares:
- 4.25: 46.2%
- 4.24: 23.1%
- 4.26: 15.4%
With 4.25 released in May 2020 and 4.26 in December 2020, studios seem to keep up with newer versions. Though selection is not representative enough.
Breakdowns per full game engine versions are as expected. Unity has tons of versions due to their release strategy. Unreal Engine has less variety, though it may be due to wrong version was determined.

Got tired of searching Unity log files so created small utility window to get log files in one click. No more searching for docs.unity3d.com/Manual/LogF…, pasting paths, changing user name, company name, product name etc. Code: github.com/rfadeev/pump-edit… #unitytips
You can copy path from text field and use button shortcuts. Unity editor on macOS and Linux are supported but not tested, expect bugs. For Unity 2019.2 or newer Unity.CodeEditor API is used. It opens log file in external code editor set in Unity preferences.
Findings along the way: 1. No straightforward way to get path to Windows AppData\LocalLow with C#. 2. Unity docs state player log file name is Player.log, but for me it is output_log.txt for Unity 2018.4 (@UnityDocs is it a bug?).
What a surprise, one more SpriterDotNet use case: it is @SnowhoundGames's Deep Sky Derelicts. Sad fact: it uses Spriter which has no official Unity support (and probably never will) hence SpriterDotNet. Game is released in 2018, Spriter in 2014.
I'm happy to announce that this week I have joined Paradox Interactive as Senior Games Programming Specialist! Looking forward to this journey ahead and feeling extremely excited!
Ease the pain of editing project settings via custom editor window! Access settings content in single click and edit directly in window or use inspector as usual. No more "Edit->Project Settings->Item" navigation. Source: github.com/rfadeev/pump-edit… #unity3d #gamedev #unitytips
