Can we just get one thing clear before season two. Shane and Ilya are not the villains in this story. Shane is not the villain for misunderstanding his sexuality, he is not the villain for not being able to understand or taking a while to come to terms with his feelings for Ilya. Ilya is not the villain for pushing Shane away, he is not the villain for hiding his struggles with his mental health and lashing out when questioned about this. The REAL villain of the story is their circumstances, the world they have to live in that doesn’t allow them to think it’s possible to love each other. The world in which they’re forced apart and only can grasp a few short hours together every few weeks because of the (justified) fear they have of the worlds reaction to them being in love. The villain is the world and the heroes are Shane and Ilya who despite all of that still found their way to one another and survived it to be able to love each other out in the open😭 okay Ted talk over.
