We have been increasingly worried about the emergence of extremist far-right politics. The AFD in Germany, the BJP in India, Likud party in Israel are no more fringe parties. They are both electorally and socially popular. How do such parties normalize their ideas ? 1/7
Taken together, these three mechanisms, which I term ‘Techniques of Civil Society Encroachment,’ expand the party’s ideas and norms in the public sphere 6/7

The world’s people aren’t aghast at Trump’s victory. They are aghast that the ‘alternative’ was a liberal imperialism sponsoring genocidal wars & relentless dispossession around the globe.
In America & beyond, the far right feasts on the bankruptcy of the liberal establishment.

Seeing what’s going on in the Middle East is a reminder that despite its many flaws, 🇵🇰’s ability to develop and sustain a deterrence capacity that prevents it from being treated like most Arab countries (and Iran) is a major achievement for the country.

Saw an image of a shredded human body atop a car. It was Beirut - 550 killed, including 50 children, in 24 hours. Absolute horror.

Awesome victory for student movement in #Bangladesh against #SheikhHasina but there can be no cheering generals taking over in the name of 'restoring peace'.

The Trump Project 2025 states that there can be "no expectations of normal relations" with Pakistan given the "perfidiousness" of "military-political rule in Pakistan."
Important flag for those in ISB / Pindi who think that a Trump win may actually be good for Pakistan.

JD Vance and Trump's misogyny - and the testosterone-laden GOP convention - are not merely accidental or incidental; the focus on masculinity is central to authoritarian values and strongmen strategies.

For those who don’t know: Kamala Harris’s dad wrote this (and multiple other) famous contributions to Marxian economics. His work remains compulsory reading for us ✊🏽🌹
This - you need a therapist, a supportive partner, at minimum to survive this. Hmm.. how can a divorced, single mom, living in a foreign country, trying to put her kids through college ever make this work ?

The bijli bills have devasted working class families. There is shock, disbelief and anger ripping across society. People earning 40 thousand are being forced to pay 50 thousand in bills. 100 percent of a worker's labour is now being used to enrich IPPs and elites. Unsustainable!
