This is how we experienced a day of dialogue on the digital future of the Americas 🌎 In Santo Domingo, governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, and development partners came together for the Policy Dialogue “From Access to Investment: Building Digital Resilience in the Americas” to exchange perspectives on how to strengthen investment and digital markets across the region. 💡 During the dialogue, we discussed: ▪️ The role of digital government in driving digital investment, through legal certainty, infrastructure, and innovative public procurement. ▪️ Supporting MSMEs in their formalization and digital transformation, through the use of data, financial innovation, and public-private partnerships. ▪️ The digital economy needs trust: cybersecurity, resilient infrastructure, and responsible and well-governed AI. 🤝 Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important conversation. 🌎 25 Years of the Inter-American Democratic Charter In 2001, the Heads of State and Government of the Americas, gathered at the III Summit of the Americas in Quebec, reaffirmed their commitment to democracy and tasked the Ministers of Foreign Affairs with drafting an Inter-American Democratic Charter to strengthen the OAS’s instruments for the active defense of representative democracy. That mandate from the Summits became, months later, a fundamental instrument of the inter-American system. On September 11, 2001, the OAS General Assembly, meeting in a special session in Lima, Peru, adopted the Inter-American Democratic Charter. 📜 25 years later, the Inter-American Democratic Charter continues to serve as a benchmark for the promotion and defense of democracy in the Americas.
