BREAKING!!! - 11:18PM UK time; I am with the flotilla online. They have just been reached by the Israel speedboats - 5 vessels circling the flotilla. The captain is instructing the team to stay calm and seated, with their passports and life jackets on. I hear them speaking with Israeli soldiers as I type... telling they are carrying humanitarian aid and go in peace. For the time being they are just circled. I am with them, recording everything.

We’re trying to get as many followers as Rishi Sunak so we can show the government just how many people are prepared to fight for the NHS and its staff. Please can you help by following us and retweeting this? It really would mean a lot.

In August our account lost almost 4,900 followers. That is we keep asking you for support & engagement. Let others know we are here and every day we educate about the history of Auschwitz. You can all help us preserve memory.

The house building industry are major donors to the Tory party and today they got a bung from Sunak and Gove - who removed water pollution protections from new house building, and dumped the cost on the taxpayer instead. That’s how they roll.

Replying to @SuellaBraverman
You are the very worst of the worst, utterly undeserving of the position you hold. You decry everything that has been good in this country during my lifetime, seeking to cause division at every turn. I am ashamed of you and the govt in which you self-serve.

If you think UK media should stop fixating on small boats & actually start reporting on the pain, misery & poverty this Government is inflicting on the people of this country RT this widely
I make no excuses for my fury at the Prime Ministers latest video. If you share my rage RT it. If UK news shows won’t say it I will

I served for 22 years in the British army Ms Braverman @SuellaBraverman, ready to defend this country, its values and freedoms, during which time I also voted Conservative. Don't you fucking dare suggest I betray my country because I don't support your corrupt, godless policies!!

I don’t like this sort of politics. Societies are made up of individuals with different backgrounds, opinions, economic interests and moral and philosophical positions. The primary job of politicians in my view is to at least try to navigate these differences (guided of course by their own hopefully well-thought out political philosophy) with the aim of building a stable consensus - a necessary foundation for a well-functioning and prosperous society. That’s very hard of course, but it should be the desired destination. Nobody gets everything they want in a democracy, because a free society is a collection of individuals who hold different views, but also nobody should feel absolutely defeated. This is not compromise in a wish-washy sense of the word - it’s the very essence of and indeed the guarantor of our freedom as individuals. As Feynman memorably said, democracy is based, like science, on a satisfactory philosophy of ignorance; running societies is very hard, and nobody really knows how to do it, so we regularly change direction whilst building on the achievements of the past. Understanding this requires humility, and the instinct to unify rather than to divide. Seeking division therefore runs counter to everyone’s interests because it undermines a key idea underpinning democracy itself - the idea that individuals have legitimately differing views. To Mr Sunak - topically - I would say read some post-war Oppenheimer. He was aiming to persuade national leaders not to do what this article says you want to do, because in the context of countries with atom bombs, that would be literally playing with fire.
