Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife. While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE. This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

Trump tried to install Clayton at SDNY during his first term, but prosecutors there, including then-head Geoff Berman, balked at the suggestion, in part bc Clayton has no experience in criminal law. Berman refused to leave until his deputy, not Clayton, could take the reins.

“The city is behaving like a disengaged, deadbeat parent.” City contracting may not be sexy, but it’s the backbone of all the crucial social services that our neighborhoods rely on. Nonprofits may not make payroll because of this nonsense. NYC: pay your bills!
I recently spoke at a @HSC_NY event where I asked the crowd "how many of you are owed money by the city?" and the entire room raised their hands. It's insane and it's hurting New Yorkers. From me and @althea4theBX cityandstateny.com/opinion/2…

Tim Walz was recently asked if he isn't concerned about Donald Trump labeling the Democratic ticket as ultra-liberal should he be the pick for VP. Watch his response: Just wow.🔥

There’s a lot left to do after today’s budget announcement, but it’s worth it to take a second to thank all the people who spent time rallying and testifying and tweeting and calling and demanding better for early childhood education.
NYC’s early childhood education system is complicated. The needs of children and families are not. Parents, providers, advocates, and @NYCCouncil have worked hard to hold the City to its promise of universal care. Funding for ECE in today’s budget is the result of their efforts.

Immigrant families need childcare. Despite this, Mayor Adams has so far refused to reinvest in Promise NYC, a program that has helped 600 families access childcare. @arya_sundaram story in @Gothamist shows the consequences of underfunding childcare gothamist.com/news/why-are-s…

Thank you Councilman Brannan! NYC needs your voice.
The school day schedule that dictates most of modern American K-12 life is a relic of a bygone “Leave It to Beaver” era with outdated family norms when a household with 2 working parents was rare for most white and middle-class families.

New York City’s budget should reflect New York City’s values. UNH stands with the Council in calling for full investment in services for children and youth, including the restoration of @NYCMayor proposed $170 million to 3K.

Thank you @karen_yi @Gothamist @WNYC for covering this important issue. In order to expand childcare and ensure every child gets a seat, we also need to ensure there is a teacher in every classroom!

We are relieved that Mayor Adams came to his senses and restored his misguided Summer Rising cuts for middle school programs. Still, it's unfortunate that families and summer camp providers were put in the position of not knowing how to prepare for summer in the first place.
