In the midst of a catastrophic war and escalating repression in Iran, the Trump Administration is halting immigration processing and legal status pathways for Iranian nationals, including students and professionals already in the United States. Because visa processing and immigration benefit applications are now frozen, many Iranians studying and working here could lose their legal status and be forced to return to a country where they may face serious danger. I’m working on a series of actions to demand immediate protections for Iranians in the U.S., including safeguards for students and others whose lives would be at risk in Iran.

Trump’s immigration policy is sidelining foreign doctors despite a serious shortage of doctors in the United States. Physicians from 39 countries are being pushed out of U.S. hospitals as Trump's policy blocks their ability to work. Americans suffer. trib.al/VnhWdml

Mr. @SecMullinDHS, as you step into your new position I ask you to provide particular consideration to the status of Iranian students and professionals in the United States who may be at risk of immigration complications due to Presidential Proclamations 10949 and 10998. Many of these individuals fled the Islamic Republic’s because they believe in freedom, democracy, and the values this country stands for. They are also contributing to the United States every day. They arrived in this country legally, followed the rules, respect this country and its system of law and order and are among the most dedicated and accomplished contributors to American society. I ask that you and your department consider these factors, plus the personal and political risk many of these young people would face if sent back to the criminal regime in Iran. America’s concerns for its national security and the threat posed by the Islamic regime to the homeland are entirely justified. To that end, my office stands ready to provide you and your colleagues with regime operatives, propaganda agents, and influence networks for investigation and removal from the United States. Thank you for your consideration.

Remember, if you die in a rural area becuase the Doctor was home waiting on his visa renewal, Trump and @USCISJoe killed you. “The Trump administration is slow-walking visa renewals for foreign doctors in the United States from the 39 countries from which the president has banned visitors. Trump says people from the countries are national security threats, but the visa pause is forcing physicians who’ve lived in the U.S. for years to stop working and exacerbating staffing shortages that are a longstanding headache for hospital administrators, more than a dozen foreign doctors told POLITICO.” politico.com/news/2026/04/01…

This @USCIS statement is utterly meaningless. It is proof that the ONLY reason that USCIS is freezing cases is to slowdown and stop legal immigration. Period. They have done NOTHING since December to enhance the US immigration system. Shame on you @USCISJoe, you are taking money from immigrants and not adjudicating their cases. Surely you realize what that means. uscis.gov/newsroom/alerts/up…

USCIS announces that "holds have been lifted" for "certain petitions filed by US citizens." The very vague language inspires little faith that this is a broad rollback of the USCIS benefits freeze affecting all immigrants from 40 countries rather than isolated relief for a few.

USCIS PM-602-0194 is quietly upending lives of many Iranian students & professionals by freezing their immigration processing. These talented folks have worked incredibly hard to build lives here. Punishing them with indefinite legal uncertainty is against US national interest
the greatest threat to US national security is ignorance

Thousands of Iranian students came to the U.S. legally. They went through one of the longest and strictest vetting processes of any nationality. They studied here, followed the law, and are now PhD graduates, doctors, engineers, and researchers contributing to American science and innovation. But now their immigration cases are suddenly stopped. • OPT for Iranian graduates has been paused, meaning many who just finished their degrees cannot work in the fields they trained for. • Some were waiting for Employment Authorization Documents, paused. • Some were waiting for green cards, stalled. • Others were in the middle of an Adjustment of Status, now frozen. This pause was supposed to last 90 days to review vetting procedures. Many are now in limbo. These are people who followed every rule, built careers here, and are among the highest-tax-paying communities in the U.S. Punishing the very people who came legally and contribute to American science, medicine, and technology makes no sense.

Secretary @marcorubio Iranian immigrants have long contributed to the U.S. economy, especially in STEM, medicine and AI. Most strongly oppose the Islamic regime and support the goal of a strong and secure USA under President Trump and your leadership. Over the past few months, many have faced serious hardship due to the USCIS hold. They are here legally and often hold advanced degrees. Returning them to Iran would place them in danger and risk sending highly trained experts in strategic fields back to the Iranian regime. We would greatly appreciate it if you could revisit this decision. Thank you for your consideration.

Dear Senator @LindseyGrahamSC We, the Iranian people, sincerely appreciate your support for the people of Iran against the Islamic Republic regime over the past couple of months. I wanted to quickly mention that the Iranian Lion and Sun flag you raised in Munich on Feb 14 represents the Iranian people. 🇮🇷 All those peaceful people around the world on Feb 14, more than 1.5 million of us, that was us, not the flag found with the Austin killer, which was related to the IRGC, a group that the US, Israel, and the Iranian people together recognize as a terrorist regime. 🇺🇸🇮🇱🇮🇷 Many of us live in the United States and came here legally as students, researchers, and professionals. However, recent pauses in immigration processing, which began on December 2, 2025, are affecting Iranians who depend on processes such as OPT, EAD approvals, and green card applications. It has now been more than three months. The delays and uncertainty are putting many of us at risk of losing our legal status and positions. We understand the importance of strong security policies. At the same time, Iranian people are not the regime. As you, @POTUS, @SecRubi, and @tedcruz have said many times, the people of Iran and the regime are not the same. 🤍 We respectfully ask the administration to consider an exception for Iranian students who came to the US legally and contribute to American innovation and economic growth. Iranian students and professionals in the United States stand with the United States and hope for continued friendship and cooperation between the American and Iranian people.🇺🇸🇮🇷 @DHSgov @USCIS #USCISpause

Mr. President @POTUS: Look out your window. Look at Lafayette Park. Look at the four corners. You’ll see Lafayette, Rochambeau, Kościuszko, and von Steuben, two Frenchmen, one Polish patriot, and one Prussian officer. Foreign commanders whose countries helped George Washington and a ragtag revolutionary army defeat the most powerful empire on earth. That is the American origin story. A revolution against tyranny that survived because others stepped in to help. There was no shame in it then, and there is no shame in it now. Now look to the center of the park. You’ll see Andrew Jackson, not President Jackson, but General Jackson, the man who fought the British at New Orleans. Yet even with that victory, America still lost the War of 1812. The White House was burned. The republic nearly collapsed. This young country almost disappeared because no one came to its aid when it stood alone. When the Iranian regime says it wants to “negotiate,” that is not diplomacy, it is delay. Authoritarian regimes negotiate to buy time, to regroup, to identify protesters, and to finish the job. If this regime survives, what follows will not be stability, it will be a bloodbath that locks their power in permanently. America has never been neutral in the great moral struggles of history. Europe after World War II, large parts of Asia freed from imperialism and totalitarianism, Kuwait liberated from invasion, genocide confronted in Bosnia and Kosovo. Yes, mistakes were made. But Iran is different. This is a people openly demanding regime change, under live fire, in real time. You have a historic opportunity. If you give the Iranian people hope and then legitimize their executioners through deals and hesitation, history will not forgive it. Look at Lafayette Park. America knows what happens when free people are abandoned, and it knows what happens when allies step forward at the decisive moment.
