Midwits think paying Social Security taxes is fair as long as you end up collecting enough in benefits.
By this standard, "fair" means someone else should be forced to pay more into Social Security without receiving more in return, so they can subsidize other people's retirements while covering decades of government waste, broken promises, and mismanagement.
If Social Security is such a great deal, why not let people opt out and keep what they've earned? The fact that participation is compulsory says more than any slogan about "fair share" ever could.

With any amount of population/economic growth Social Security will pay out to retirees more than those retirees paid in taxes—in perpetuity—forever—no tax increase required.

I know your joking but I honestly believe that, should a principled movement against our runaway entitlement state gain momentum, there would be enough thoughtful retirees willing to acknowledge the truth that a meaningful compromise would be possible.
