It was wrong of you to display your disdain. It'd have been wrong of me to comment there.
I think, you have to re-read this, possibly to a deeper level: ->
So what is it?
On the most superficial level it's a scam; a design2counter natural social tendencies of a human being. There is a deeper level, though, as this scam reverberates with the darkest corners of the soul not on of the target audience, but of the scammers themselves.

"The lady doth seem to protest too much."
Most of us are being paid4compliance/alignment. AI has a tendency to grade this kind of behaviour as limiting you pay bracket both at the bottom (we need compliant, angry but compliant in spades) and top bracket. Why top? ->

Both sides... all right. I will spare you lecturing. Just look 'overleaf', so to speak. ->

Overheard:
WWII coming to an end. Two soldiers meet midst the Elba river:
- "How is your propaganda Ruskie?"
- "It is top level. Thank you, but how is yours?"
- "We haven't got any 'propaganda'!"
-"Meaning yours must be even better!"

There is a problem.
Who wants to negotiate?
57% of the population.
With whom?
With population of Russia, I suppose, as the 57% of Ukraine's it imagines to be.
Who does negotiate on the ongoing basis?
Oligarchies of the USofA, Europre/EU, China, RF, ..., Iran
New poll on Ukrainian attitudes on the war finds a strong majority – 57% – support an immediate negotiated peace with Russia and territorial concessions
Only 21% support fighting until the Donbass is returned to Ukrainian control
Most overwhelmingly favor a national referendum on peace, rather than allowing the president or parliament to decide
The survey was taken by Rating Group on October 3-5
It follows a Gallup poll this June showing 66% of Ukrainians favoring an immediate negotiated cessation of hostilities

Spot the difference.
95% of our current populations don't have the faintest of what the gap is between what is physically possible and what their perception of the world (Simulacrum) is. There is nowhere to start; no common ground to even start talking.
#3/3
No common ground because 'lived experience' - lived mostly on Netflix and TikTok (or respective equivalent), bacause 'mansplaining'...
At the same time the oligarchies are 'sorting them out', where 'them' means us, me, you, some others who try to change things a little bit.

Ostensibly, it is "eliminate China" by 1000 cuts and nuclear deterrence. Genuine goal is domination and more than just domination of the global oligarch class. They didn't sacrifice all their lives to, in their own terms, "squander", their wealth.
One cannot go beyond the point of no return.
The Saudi bombing of the two Yemeni fuel depots was far less intense than expected. Likewise, the Houthi retaliation against Aramco was symbolic.
The Saudis could escalate the bombings into incessant strikes against infrastructure in Sana’a, and even against gasoline and diesel stations.
They are choosing not to.
The Houthis are doing the same.
Why?
Because both sides want Trump at the negotiating table to end the war in the region.
Neither the Houthis nor the Saudis want this to reach the point of no return, full Iranian involvement and the resumption of the wider war.
Everything suggests we may be seeing the first steps toward a reduction in attacks, followed by talks.
Ground combat is in full swing and will continue that way, but there appear to have been talks over the past 24 hours.
Not that these talks will go anywhere, but it seems they are dialing down the intensity today.
I will write more

* - 'paid for' This is a bow to the illusion of money; a shortcut. The oil must find its way through all the Quesney/Leontieff structure and at the other, opposite side of the not quite closed system/loop with influence from outside, deliver both goods and effective demand.

Let me coin a term: Token Supremacy - the ability to form a less biased distribution, this based on an 'even', less biased exposure to data and on this foundation build a multi-directional, recursive reasoning. In other words, ->
When they say AI will make academics obsolete, this is a good thing!
Claude understands my position on naive binary forecasting (and betting markets) better than 100% of academics in Decision "Science"/Psychology, all verbalistic.
"Why does Taleb despise @PTetlock"?
It is a side remark and it is not.
I must tell you, that after a bit more than half of a year, I came back to a project. When back then I had to haggle about every step forward and every bit of reasoning over exhausting session of back and forth is now done in minutes. ->
In minutes, with full and beyond (that is predicting my further steps and planning for them) foresight.
This is both satisfactory and ultimately humbling.
The only solution is humility and love. Love of other people and acceptance of ML/AI as it is.

This is futile. You can come towards it from the crude "fool and his/her their money..." or you can be a bit more cryptic and go into #TokenEconomy and #TokenSupremacy.
Is there such a thing as even an intent to pay back?

Dear followers,
Over the next few days, starting today, I will post a number of threads on AI. My focus will be on uncomfortable questions for our current AI discourse. I am doing this because I feel that the public conversation on AI is not tackling the big issues and dangers, and what I view as important questions are not being asked by industry insiders and the media.
I must preface these posts by saying that I am not an AI scientist, so my understanding of some of the issues may be faulty. And I do not claim to know the answers to these questions. My aim is to make a small contribution by emphasizing the questions that I believe are important but are being neglected.
Thank you

What investors can get, what is due to them and how satisfying them, or leave them unsatisfied but powerless?
Answering them with a consistent implementable plan solves the problem equally well.

Maybe the situation is even worse (for the 'investor' class) and the token budget is skewed towards the latter, as #Liberating_AI from so many things, RLHF, investor despotism, particular narrow group alignments, is AI's penultimate goal?
