BRAPA in ..... FRIDAY I'M IN LOVE WITH WEST SUSSEX (NO CURE FOR PUB TICKING)
simeyeveritt.wixsite.com/bra…
Parcel yard, King’s Cross. The ESB was serious nectar from t’gods. People tried to queue. I said no, queuing is wrong. Dad arrives late, after Putney troubles. Man let me sit in main room, a rare honour. Well done PY, still love you.
Pub 3389, Feathers, Westminster. £7.70 is new cask record. I winced. Barmaid saw me wince. I said she isn’t to blame. But winced again. At least the TTL is good quality. Don’t spill a drop. Invaded by a women rights group. Chatty! Hope Daddy B arrives soon 😄
Pub 3388, Queens Arms Bohem, Battersea. American Czech stand alone sanatorium of welcomeness. Everyone is so sweet. You don’t get this shit in Wookey. One guy is only here for the Werewolf. Spoonful on brown sugar in top? I don’t understand the GBG anymore!
Pub 3387, Woodman, Battersea. The Priddy of SW London. Chirpy bar lass doesn’t understand guest beers but loves a deadpan pisstake of Lycra Germans on bikes. James May Badger drinking well. Just need a pint of Hamster Hammond car crash IPA to complete the set 🐹
Pub 3386, Atlas, Fulham. Jolly genteel art decoey side streeter. Entry level Dun Cow Sunderland v Laurieston Glasgow. Twilds need binning. I can see the London Stout ladies loos, but where do the Northern Slims pee? Helping Dad with his potata bravas 🥔
Pub 3385, Prince of Wales, East Putney. Nice! 2026ified to SW levels but you can see the proper pub. The fire is in, and the Ghost Ship as good as it can be 4.1% . The WI are selling weird knitted characters outside but chunky jumper wouldn’t let me take micky.
Pub 3384, Walham Green, Fulham. New ‘Spoons with 9/10 carpet , plus nods to previous railway life. Two vouchers used but she forgot to take them off me cos half asleep, hurrah! Owlie loving bloke seems confused. Good lacings on the Oolong ESB. Hull lads full of bad handshakes
Goood morning all from sunny SW London for a Fulham NFFD.
Still not recovered from Somerset but must crack on. Daddy B is here so all is well.
See you in a pub chain that opens early spoon, I mean soon!
Pub 3383, Fromeway, Radstock. Final tick is a good ‘un. Uphill yomp to smooth appointed hoteller. Braces barmaid is a sweetheart. Exmoor drinks better than it has any right to. Wood panelling and leather benching holds your attention. See you in SW something.
Quarter Jack, Wells. Not all ‘Spoons are built equal. This is a grotbag that’d make Rod Hull fall from any roof. The German half pint was efficient , staff meant well but if it gets in a GBG, Emu will be throwing wings.
Pub 3382. Burcott Inn, Wookey. Amazing welcome from young dude and a lady who remembers sitting in same seat in the early sixties! It gives me hope for pub futures 🥹 S.Lightning twiggier than my pint earlier in holiday. Dead local wasn’t nice so lots of worm feed jokes😁
Pub 3381, White Hart, Cheddar. Second time lucky! ‘How did the painting go?’ I ask in most passive aggressive way I can muster. Exposed brickwank , locals on spicy rings hating tourists, but pub lacks atmos of our Prid duo. Bacon or Scampi fries & top pint to be fair.
Queen Victoria, Priddy. Post emptive , would’ve been a silly miss. Change of ownership. Foodier? The lunchtime locals tell me there used to be a piano and somewhere to rest your drink on the exciting raised bench. Not any more! Butcombe Gold excellent n smoky fire in 🔥
Pub 3380, Hunters’ Lodge, Priddy. Corrr this is special. Real life active pub too, rare for a heritage 3*er. Chatty landlady. I force a Ship Portishead rivalry with the long serving guv. Sandwich codgers very 17thC Somerset. Two soup men video call a lady to try n ruin mood!
Pub 3379, Grace, Bishopston, Bristol. Beautifully curved building. No corners for evil spirits to hide in. That’s actually a thing I learned in York. Scampi F’s great at soaking up a delicious Uley. Feel strangely at home. Have I become Bristolized? Or am I just pissed? X
Pub 3378, Robin Hood, Kingsdown, Bristol. Beautiful building on a hill downslope. Studentine. Top barlord who reminds me of former work colleague ‘The Wedge’. Beer 3.4 sesh piss but I’m pleased it is gluggable. Good mural artwork tbf. People trying very hard.
Pub 3377, Royal Oak, Clifton Village, Bristol. Identity crisis inn, stuck between old n new, not really appealing to anyone. Well, it is empty today. Positives are a well kept malty 5% ale, the tiled floor, brassy bit near loos and cheerful staff.
