great guys. history will be kind to you.
Raised around lace, Ankara and Aso Oke, Sanjo and Mayowa Lawal (@brotherslawee) turned that shared inheritance into a distinct visual language.
For our final Creativerse story of the year, we sat down with the brothers to talk about the thread that connects it all.

This house in Kochi sits right beside a busy national highway and the airport. Look at the photos and you'd never know.
That's the real estate lesson. A plot with
easy access to the airport and the highway is valuable, but noise and traffic make it hard to sell as a home. RGB Architecture Studio solved it with design.
The site is wrapped in foliage from neighbouring plots. A garden court faces east, and the kitchen, parking and a long verandah enclose it on the other sides. The result is a clearing in the middle of the noise, without giving up the access.
The roofs add value too. Low eaves cut the tropical glare, and a gap between the staggered roofs lets hot air rise out through a clerestory. A house that stays comfortable with less help from AC costs less to run and is easier to live in year-round.
It was also built for a specific buyer: a family returning from years abroad who wanted privacy and greenery without losing the comforts they'd got used to. Developers who sell to diaspora buyers should be building for exactly that person.
Good design can turn a compromised site into the most valuable thing on the street.

Dear developers, people pay more and stay longer in homes that feel good to live in. Good architecture is part of what makes a property valuable.
In the upcoming thread, I'll be sharing a good number of well-executed tropical homes so you can see what I mean. They'll be in the quotes of this post. Watch this space 👀
