Whenever Pinups is mentioned I am required by law to post this from Carol Belton from Priesthill, Glasgow
Happy Birthday to Pin Ups. Album released this day in 1973 by David Bowie. A covers album, featuring songs by British bands from the 60’s that influenced Bowie. Including The Pretty Things, The Who, The Yardbirds and The Pink Floyd. A UK No.1 #DavidBowie #Bowie
50 years ago on this very day, I took a young lady on a first date. It was a Wings concert at the Empire Pool, Wembley. Yes, we're still together. #PaulMcCartney
30,000 at Hillsborough today to see #SWFC beat Wimbledon 5-0. Must be some kind of League One attendance record. At least since one of the #Sheffield clubs drew a similar crowd.
I never get tired of reading this passage from John Cooper Clarke's memoir "I Wanna Be Yours” about the time he performed at the Cambridge Folk Festival alongside #Donovan
Before AI makes up some imaginary picture, THESE are the two LPs Mick Jagger was carrying on that fateful day in 1961 when he reconnected with Keith
This day in 1961, 17 year old Keith Richards met 18 year old Mick Jagger on his way to the London School of Economics carrying some records. On platform two of Dartford railway station. Their paths would thankfully cross again #RollingStones #History
February 8, 1968. Cream and the Bee Gees meet up at the Copenhagen airport lounge. Cream were flying back to London and the Bees were in the way to play in Stockholm
Excellent caricatures of 10cc except for Eric Stewart who they've made look like Alfred E. Newman
10cc - The Stockport Shuffle - Complete UK Label Anthology 1972-1974. New heavily expanded 6CD overview of first two albums, featuring previously-unissued alternative versions, album session highlights, out-takes, rehearsals and BBC recordings. 👉 cherryred.co/StockportShuffl…
Vernon Yard off Portobello Road. The Virgin Records HQ was here from 1972 to the early 90s. The back cover of the Gong LP "Angel's Egg" somehow misspelled the street name. There's some interesting graffiti too.
My entire knowledge of Spanish came from #19 Speedy Gonzalez by Pat Boone
Trauma? Beating/caning was still a subject for much mirth in kids' comics well into the 80s #Beano
Released on this day in 1969: "In The Court Of The Crimson King (An Observation By King Crimson)". Here's Barry Godber, the bloke who designed that incredible sleeve. Sadly he passed away in 1970. It was the only LP sleeve he designed.
Sad to learn of the death of Keith Christmas a few days short of his 80th birthday. He made some fine albums in the early 70s for the B&C label and was a regular at Les Cousins folk club in Soho. He was also active here on X and we sometimes exchanged guitar trivia.
50 years ago this very day I met this lady in the Prince of Wales pub, Holland Park. We married two years later. Here we are circa 1983 walking the streets of Harrow with our first born girl (now aged 43). Note the "Pipes of Peace" promo t-shirt and unfeasibly short shorts.
Four copies of the 1969 third #FleetwoodMac album “Then Play On”. Four different track listings
