This is the most sane take regarding Nix I’ve seen on here. Thank goodness for it because everything else I’ve seen is mind boggling to me
Yes Bo Nix isn't playing well. Yes it's concerning. Yes the Broncos think he can play himself out of it. Details below: There are the numbers, he's 18-3 in last 21 starts. That's what the Broncos are leaning into as this conversation continues. And why wouldn't they? Nix has proven he can simply win football games and there is a ton of value in that. His 4th quarter performances show that, with 13 GW drives and 12 4th quarter comebacks. That's just incredible and can't be overlooked. There is the competitiveness the organization loves about their QB and it's been there since he entered the building. He's a gamer. And we've all seen that a ton during his first two seasons. They still think he has that in him. Nix has a knack for not hurting a really good Broncos team and that's a skill. Minimizing negative plays and bad turnovers and making plays when they're needed most. He's also walked into a situation every QB should want to enter the NFL with. An absolutely dominant defense, a solid OL, a Super Bowl winning head coach who is also one of the best play-callers in the league's history, and some how not an abundance of pressure most first round picks are under. He's won more than the rest of the class. There is something to be said for that. But we can't overlook the situation. My understanding is there is a difference with Nix in 2026, where Nix is focused on not losing the game more than winning the game. Don't turn the ball over. Don't be the reason why we lose the game. That's kind of manifested in his mind to the point that the conservative approach has become an issue on the field. Nix is healthy, and the ankle is fine. But returning from an injury is also not cut and dry and takes time. The Broncos want Nix to run it more and they're seeing a player that is a bit gun shy right now. If you look at the runs that Denver has dialed up, a lot of them he's looking for the sidelines and he's looking for a way to get down as soon as possible. He's not looking for the extra yards or the needed yards in key situations. It's been frustrating. This plays a part in the drifting or escaping out of clean pockets I'm told. This has always been an issue with him his whole career, but this year it's more exaggerated and impacting a passing game where WRs are open. Nix often times is on the move before even the first read gets to the top of their route. The play designs have some longer development downfield, so this is a bad combination right now. Nix is seeing ghosts at times. He's also waiting to see a players numbers before he lets it rip. That's an issue especially over the middle. There is very little anticipation and also moments where Nix freezes when the picture changes. It's worth adding that Waddle gets open a little differently and sometimes it takes a second to do so. With how Nix is bailing, that's not impacting the pass game. Courtland Sutton hasn't been himself, struggling to get off the LOS or break free early enough at times and the timing is thrown off. Pat Bryant was emerging and is out. There are other aspects of the offense that are playing a factor as well. The Broncos are not planning on moving on from Nix. Lets be serious. They also are obviously concerned with the funk he's currently stuck in. They'd love to see him take a couple of big hits and realize he's not going to get hurt, the ankle is good, remember you're a tough football player. One big game could get him going. There is that thought too. But it's not good right now. There is concern. And they're going to keep working to get him out of it because they believe he can. There is a large enough sample size that he can correct some of these issues and be more of a reason why they win football games, compared to just trying to get through a game mistake free.

Agreed…
Michael Robinson has to do a looooong apology

Indiana had it. They knew the blitz was coming. Had the perfect call against it. Marsh was just out of bounds.

I’m not trying to defend Bo here because he has been bad in my opinion. But my god, I don’t think there has ever been a QB in this league that has been given more grace for his bad play than Herbert. It’s laughable at this point.
Herbert actually has some reasons for why he’s been terrible this year - no OL, injuries, bad FO, new OC, etc. What are Nix’s excuses for being terrible this year

How is this team 4-2? Like how?

Broncos are gonna lose this game because there’s no way this offense is gonna score a point.

At least it was a pick 6.

I won’t even say how I really feel about this game. I’ll just say Go Broncos. #BroncosCountry

ESPN continues to show that they are unserious.
Troy Aikman confirmed today he plans to leave ESPN after the Super Bowl 61 broadcast with Joe Buck. Aikman and Buck had been partners on calls for 25 consecutive seasons. There is significant buzz building that ESPN could be replacing Aikman with Pat McAfee in 2027.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Troy Aikman said he will be a free agent after this season but did not confirm plans to leave ESPN. McAfee has denied any conversations about replacing him in the MNF booth. latimes.com/sports/story/2… x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/…

The fact that half of the offenses in the NFL right now use some form of an offense that is based on what Mike Shanahan curated while he was in Denver and he is not in the Hall of Fame is crazy to me
Even @peter_king thinks that Mike Shanahan should be in the Hall of Fame

I thought Broncos Twitter was unhinged. What I’m seeing from Falcons Twitter is on another level

For the gazillionth time, a 10 minute overtime period with the current overtime rules is the absolute dumbest thing possible.

Goodness that was ugly…but a win is a win.

I don’t think I have ever seen a QB give up a game as much as Justin Herbert has given up today’s game.

How in the world did the Eagles lose that game?

Jeremiah Smith could come into the pre-draft interviews like this and he would still be a Top 5 draft pick.
If Jeremiah Smith falls to the early-mid 2nd round the Broncos need to trade up for him The 2nd rounds in ‘25 & ‘26 were incredibly mismanaged by this FO. Can’t have yet another year where your 2nd round targets (TreVeyon, Ferguson, Trotter, Rodriguez, Hill Jr) fly off the board

Not gonna lie…this is pretty damning. The plays are there he’s just refusing to take them.
On @ESPN, @danorlovsky7 points out that Bo Nix is leaving plays on field. Part of what I wrote today. Everyone is blaming Davis Webb. But in this game — other than the lack of pass-run balance — Webb dialed up big plays that Nix eschewed even with a clean pocket. He has to get back to taking shots or #Broncos are really easy to defend on check down Charlie’s
