I love how we’ve reached a point culturally where people can hear newborn baby found dead in a porta potty and their first instinct is not horror over the dead infant, but immediately launching into a TED Talk about why we should reserve judgment for the person responsible. Yes, external factors can influence behavior. No, being failed by society does not suddenly erase human agency or exempt someone from responsibility for abandoning a literal newborn to die in a toilet. Some of you are so committed to explaining away bad behavior that you’ve started treating accountability like it’s the real injustice. A baby is dead. Read the room.
