We’ve completed commissioning of what we think are the first real time junction turning counts in the North East. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year a set of sensors around the Corner House Junction are enumerating vehicle turning movements for @NewcastleCC

In parallel to this we've implemented the same back end to an existing installation around the Coast Road / Sandyford Road junction where a set of 4 existing sensors installed to monitor Active Travel movements has been able to feed a similar set of junction counts.

For a smaller compact junction we could implement this with just two sensors. The days of relying on occasional traffic surveys to see how a junction is being used may be numbered.....

Some of our original edge sensors installed in Newcastle back in 2020 have been running non stop for over 4 years. Also entering our 4th year supplying London Borough Hackney monitoring some of the highest active flow locations in the UK. 2025 looks exciting too....
