Frankly, hand on heart, I think Trump is going to come to a very bad end, possibly even before January 2029. And not simply because of the vile things he is doing to Ukraine. This is something much bigger than that. There is a gigantic difference between being evil and being stupidly evil. No longer capable of controlling himself or his wild antics, he is digging his own grave at breakneck speed and dragging a great many others down with him.

A Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv. Once again, no early warning from our partners. The main target was energy infrastructure, specifically CHPP-4. Unfortunately, it was hit. A residential building was also damaged, and rescuers are currently putting out a fire there. Our systems detected these missiles only when they were already virtually on approach to Kyiv. CHPP-4 is one of Kyiv’s key energy facilities. According to our intelligence, the Russians are preparing further ballistic missile launches. The facts show that the Russians do not consider themselves bound by what the President of the United States said. Ukraine supported an energy ceasefire. Russia is targeting yet another power plant and the lives of our people. And this is absolutely unjust: when they are destroying our energy infrastructure, and Ukraine is not even receiving early warnings about ballistic missile launches. It is important that the world does not stay silent about this. And it is important that the United States really see what is happening and who is responsible for this war continuing. This isn’t about relitigating 2016, it’s about being honest about the damage and deciding, with evidence, how to repair it. The economic case: Brexit didn’t take back control; it took away choices - making trade harder, investment weaker, and families poorer. On the way forward: The Prime Minister is right that all options must now be on the table - a customs union, single-market alignment, a Swiss style model, associated membership as Canada, Australia and New Zealand are pursuing - and leaving the door open to ultimately rejoining; depending on where the EU and the world are in the 2030s. But this must be done carefully, transparently and with the country brought with us, not divided again. On trust: People were promised control, prosperity and lower immigration. They were let down. The decent, honest thing now is not to pretend it worked, but admit the failure, set out the real choices, and let people decide Britain’s future with the facts in front of them.
