Dolly’s Imagination Library brought so much joy to us, our siblings and our friends growing up, helping to create a lasting love of books and reading. What an incredible legacy. Rest in eternal peace, @DollyParton 📚❤️
In 2016, Dolly Parton was awarded Honorary Freedom of the London Borough of Southwark, in recognition of the Imagination Library project - which she launched in Southwark on her birthday that year.
We never had the chance to award Dolly her certificate in person, but her incredible generosity towards the children of our borough means they have received over 40,000 books to date - just one part of Dolly's huge legacy.
Thank you Dolly, and rest in peace.
