American audiences in the streaming era have more access to a wider variety of films and shows than at any time in history. Viewers decide when, where, and how to watch at different prices (including free ad-based options) that make sense for their families. That’s why more than 70% of Americans view streaming favorably (with even higher support among younger consumers and in communities of color) and nearly 75% think streaming services should be regulated the same or less than they are today. Adding blunt government mandates into the greenlighting process will only dampen production and discourage creative risk-taking – winding back the clock on decades of streaming-powered progress. nytimes.com/2026/10/14/busin…

An oldie but not-so-goodie: @SimingtonFCC & @GavinWax rehash familiar, tired, illogical and incomplete arguments to impose decades-old media regulations on video streamers. There’s a reason this idea hasn’t gone anywhere since the FCC last considered it—a lot of them actually. 🧵

Reason 4: @SimingtonFCC and @GavinWax say we need to level the regulatory playing field for all forms of video – which sounds reasonable enough, but as analysts at ICLE observe: truthonthemarket.com/2025/05…

Bottom Line: No one outside of local broadcasters seeking “a bigger slice of the streaming pie” honestly thinks we should apply 50-year-old regulations to internet-based streaming services. Consumers win with competitive, high quality, high value streaming options.
