They also acknowledge that climate change is a pressing issue that will impact the future of the children they feed today *earth emoji* They are committed to continually looking to improve practices to mitigate their impact to the greatest extent possible, while staying committed in making sure children are fed each and every day *blue heart emoji*

ALT Green graphic with text. Features a photo of a volunteer at a Mary's Meals school cooking. Text reads: 1. Fuel efficiency MM gives schools fuel-efficient stoves & meals are made in bulk: • In Madagascar: reduced use of wood by 69% & charcoal by 50% • Generally, the environmental impact is far less than if each child was fed at home with less efficient stoves & every single household burning wood
ALT Green graphic with text. Features a picture of children sitting under a tree at a school where Mary's Meals feeds. Text reads: 2. Tree planting initiatives MM works with communities to develop woodlots adjacent to schools & provide guidance on careful management: • Sustainable local cooking fuel source • Homes for wildlife • Less deforestation (fewer trees cut down) • Trees provide much needed shade to sit (& learn) under • Nature learning opportunities
ALT Green graphic with text. Features a picture of a table full of bowls of food and a queue of children collecting their bowl. Text reads: 3. Local produce Food is sourced from local farmers wherever possible: • Benefits local economies • Reduces environmental impacts associated with transport of food • Food is suited to local tastes + in Zambia, MM's partner helps conservation by helping poachers move into farming
ALT Green graphic with text. Features a picture of a young girl smiling in front of her school's vegetable garden. Text reads: 4. Vegetable gardens Some schools with MM programmes have vegetable gardens on-site: • Empty MM food sacks are re-used for planting vegetables • Vegetables supplement school meals or are sold to buy school supplies • Extra learning opportunities: re-skilling future generations & giving pupils tools for self-sufficiency
