Hi. I'm Brad.
Due to the loss of our co-host, as well as how taxing solo content creation is on my mental health, Strange for History will be taking a permanent hiatus. I do not forsee a return.
You have been fantastic listeners and friends, and I wish you all the best. X.

Olympic long jumps.
Ever watched those and thought "Huh, I wonder why they dont just do a flip for extra distance?"
So did New Zealander Tuariki Delamere. He sought to break the long jump record held by Bob Beamon at 8.90 meters.
Delamere put his flip into action at a student tournament in May of 1974, landing an impressive score of 7.70, leaving everyone in attendance utterly shocked that he managed to stick the landing as well as go such an impressive distance.
Unfortunately, that same year, all types of acrobatics were banned in the event due to how dangerous they were to the health of the jumpers.

This is all the room that the cells of #Moundsville #Penitentiary would offer to two to three inmates at a time. From 1866 to 1995, the prison would see nearly 1000 deaths, making it one of the most bloody and brutal in the United States. Pictured here is the cell of n
notorious gang leader William "Red" Snyder, a man who ran one of the most powerful gangs in the prison. Snyder would be stabbed to death by his friend and right-hand-man, Rusty Lassiter, in 1992. After taking over thirty stab wounds, the walls of Cell 20 would be bathed in blood.
Snyder would be buried in an unmarked grave outside of the prison after his death.
