Last month, we welcomed about 20 PhD students and postdocs from the @thebiotechclub to our Boston office for an afternoon of touring our space and hearing from our team – including a talk and Q&A with co-founder, President, and Head of R&D @tasuku_kitada, alongside scientists from our program management and translational medicine groups.

Last week, our co-founder and CEO @DrSynbio joined Endpoints News and Roivant Sciences CEO @gline for a live debate on China's impact on biotech.
Jake made the case that while protectionism is an important consideration, we have to stay focused on acceleration. He pointed to Australia's clinical trial capacity running at four times the U.S. rate despite having a tenth of the population.
This isn’t just a sign of how much room there is to move faster here. The gap is felt by patients, too. 86% of non-metro U.S. hospitals don't run clinical trials, meaning many patients have to leave home to access experimental treatments.

Strand was founded at MIT, so welcoming students from MIT's BioCEL and Ron Weiss's lab this past May felt a little like a homecoming. The group toured our facility, connected with the team, and got a firsthand look at programmable mRNA medicine in action. The next wave of scientists in this space is a promising one.

What if off-target effects weren’t a delivery problem but a programming problem?
Our programmable mRNA platform uses molecular sensors to make sure only tumor cells can “read” the message and produce the protein that triggers their destruction. Healthy cells ignore the mRNA altogether.
