ICYMI | A survey of roughly 1,000 learners with some college credits but no credential found that many of these former students distrust higher ed and question the value of a degree.
The study, highlighted in a new white paper released Tuesday, was conducted by @StraighterLine, an online course provider, and @UPCEA, an online and professional education association. It explored what factors prevent these adult learners from continuing to pursue college and what can motivate them to re-enroll.
The @NSClearinghouse has found that there are about 36.8 million Americans under the age of 65 who have some college credits but no credential, a group that’s continuing to grow and becoming a key focus of colleges struggling with enrollment.

For many, this is prohibitively expensive or requires taking on large amounts of student loan debt. 🙅♂️💸

According to a @Forbes report on a new @UPCEA /@StraighterLine survey, 57% of adults who drop out of college have earned at least half of the credits needed to complete a degree, and most would like to return to finish. Institutions would be wise to explore completion programs, micro-credentials, credit for prior learning and other strategies to help these learners succeed. bit.ly/3RsETaH
