I’ve left Anthropic after more than a year of working on Claude Code and seeing it scale larger than I ever imagined. I have really loved working at Ant and believe deeply in the mission, and most of all, the idea of a race to the top. The idea that if we work hard and responsibly, we can raise the bar and inspire others to great outcomes. And if we all push each other to be better, things can be radically good. I will carry the spirit of this with me forever. My colleagues at Anthropic are the most talented, thoughtful, competent, and earnest people I have ever met. I am glad they are at the wheel and trust them deeply. To the community on X, thank you for everything. You’ve made this the most fun (and sometimes stressful) job I’ve ever had. We started over two years ago developing ONO. At the time, "proactive AI" was just a thought and didn't exist in any form in any apps. After a whole year of beta testing with real users, I can say that AI knowing what's important to a user and WHEN is actually a hard thing to nail and is why you haven't really seen this pulled off very well in other apps. Conversely, knowing what isn't important to the user (and when it isn't) is equally as important.

The US affordability crisis is worsening: Food prices have surged +34.5% since December 2019, now at their highest level on record. Rent and grocery prices have risen +33.3% and +30.0%, respectively. Furthermore, motor vehicle maintenance and repair prices have soared +55.2% over the same period. Meanwhile, prices for services excluding rent, including medical care, transportation, education, communication, and recreation, have increased +29.2% since December 2019. As a result, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen +30.4%. Basic necessities are becoming increasingly unaffordable in the US.

Meta’s cuddly spy called Muse has exposed private conversations by making links to shared chats publicly searchable. Predictable. When someone shared a conversation, Meta created a web link with the title of that conversation. Those links ended up in publicly accessible records where strangers could find them. Security firm Claroc discovered more than 6,800 shared conversations with a single search. Some contained sensitive personal and business information, including a loan application, a bank fraud alert and confidential company documents. Anyone who found these links could open the conversations without a password or permission from the person who shared them. Meta says it has suspended the sharing feature, but records of the exposed links remain publicly accessible. 💡 Meta should shut down this service. It’s riddled with security vulnerabilities and poses serious risks to everyone’s privacy, including people who don’t use it. It doesn’t matter if you don’t use any of Meta’s products. If someone gives Muse access to their emails, messages or other private accounts, highly sensitive information about you could end up in Meta’s hands without your knowledge or consent. If someone shares conversations you’ve had with them, or talks about you in messages Muse can access, Meta will learn who you know, what you’ve said, what you’re thinking, your emotional state and your personal vulnerabilities. That kind of information is being used to build detailed profiles and social graphs about people who’ve never used Muse or agreed to share anything with Meta. You’d have no way of knowing what information had been collected about you or how it was being used. And because Meta is a US company, information it holds is subject to demands from US authorities. This is an extraordinary invasion of privacy, including the privacy of people who’ve never used the service.
