A coalition of service users & allies campaigning for the High Intensity Network's SIM model to be halted & subject to an independent review #StopSIM

I have formally withdrawn from working with @NHSEngland until the report on SIM co-produced work with @StopSIMMH is published. It simply isn't ok to retract on fifteen months of shared work and stamp on the beginning of trust. I am a small player but, still, values are important.

Please call on @NHSEngland to release the full statement co-written with @StopSIMMH. This isn't just about SIM, despite how important not criminalising mental Illness is. Its about the template of what is and isnt acceptable in involving lived experience #nothingaboutuswithoutus

We stand in solidarity with #StopSIM and join others in urging @NHSEngland to publish the policy in full. Punishment is never care - in any instance, and especially for those in crisis. The full policy must be public.

We are pulling together a more formal statement but call on @NHSEngland to publish the policy and ensure this type of scheme and criminalisation of people who are unwell - no matter how framed or labelled - is unacceptable, unethical and has no place in MH services. #StopSIM

Thanks to @StopSIMMH a policy that denied people support has rightly been ended. With a need to coproduce services that work for all, lessons must be learnt. We also hope to see more detail on how trusts will be monitored to ensure that SIM does not return in a different guise.

remember your comment! Dont know exactly the reasons for not proceeding, but for me it was the most genuinely coproduced work I'd seen in my 16 yrs of national policy + it had rare nr universal support from stakeholders. Substance aside, I think it would've been great PR for NHSE

BASW continues to support calls from the coalition to NHS England to halt the rollout and delivery of SIM with immediate effect, as well as interventions operating under a different name, and hope to see swift progress towards this outcome. 🧵2/3

Yes, whichever way you look at it from a patient/family perspective, it was the NHS system and NHS professionals who rolled it out. This includes clinicians and academics as well as managers/commissioners. I have many lessons I've taken from it personally, too many for a tweet!

What is a concern from me is the silence from the Royal College on those matters. Is it not a priority to explore what went wrong and to be open and transparent about the findings? I would like RPsych to lobby on those kinds of issues more.

Very important thread about the imperative for us as health care professionals to confront and challenge the harms of the systems we work in, which may even benefit health workers at the cost of harm to patients

We hope and expect that @NHSEngland will be responding in full to the statement that @StopSIMMH has issued this morning. A reminder of our support when they first raised this issue: xitter.cf/unite_mhna/status/1389…

I’ve been frantically stress sewing the past few days and just finished my quilt this afternoon. A not so gentle reminder for @NHSEngland after their failure to publish the @StopSIMMH joint statement replacing it with a weak alternative we never agreed to #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs

EXCLUSIVE: NHS England accused of “betrayal” as it appeared to shelve a long-awaited policy to protect mental health patients from the controversial police-led SIM scheme that critics say denies care to people in crisis @JackBarton91 libertyinvestigates.org.uk/a…

Replying to @StopSIMMH
Agree 🙌🏽 For me I wish there were more voices that would speak truth to this area than ignore, excuse or create a false reality of the care being given. For me it’s starts with the above & if we can’t do that then 🤷🏽‍♀️ We don’t need more evidence we just need support with action💥

.@NHSEngland do the right thing and publish the report! #StopSIM. The 'worst' thing that you could actually do is not to publish the report in full.
