Anti AI-activists need to win the information war. AI companies cannot be allowed to monopolize the means of molding public opinion. We must create high-quality content as part of a broader media campaign that informs and educates the general population.

It’s disgusting the way AI companies suppress the voices of those who speak out against them.

@SenSanders We don't need to regulate or nationalize the AI industry; we need to dismantle the AI Industry. The Artificial Intelligence Industry is a parasite! Bernie, say to to the attempt by @AnthropicAI and @allTheYud at Regulatory Capture! Stop AI.

Anthropic is building a product they admit could "kill all humans". The federal government is set to reward them with an influx of new funding, if the SEC approves their upcoming IPO. Selling a product as "the end of the world" shouldn't pay off. Stop the Anthropic IPO!
Pass the AI Kill Switch Act NOW.

Anthropic is still pursuing their IPO release. Selling a product as "the end of the world" shouldn't pay off. A financial crisis of dot com 2.0 proportions is looming. Anthropic is artificially kept afloat by an oligarch class that view AI as their chance to permanently solidify power. And they are willing to risk killing us all trying. We will be protesting in front of the SEC offices in San Francisco, with one clear ask: Block the Anthropic IPO.

"“It’s absolutely frightening and appalling that these CEOs and AI experts know the dangers and they are pursuing it anyway,” Kaufmyn said before she was imprisoned. “That to me is unconscionable and reprehensible.”..." "Brooke Jenkins, the San Francisco district attorney, said the guilty verdict sent “a resounding message rejecting the notion that protesters can endanger public safety as a means to an end [just what are OpenAI doing, if not that on a _much_ larger scale!?]”..." "“The jury rejected [Kaufmyn's] necessity defence, but as the first person to go to jail over this, Wynd Kaufmyn could go down in history as the Rosa Parks of AI risk,” said David Kreuger, a University of Montreal AI safety expert who has warned AI “may literally lead to human extinction, in the same way that humans have caused many other species to go extinct”..." "Professor Stuart Russell, a leading AI professor... gave evidence in Kaufmyn’s defence. He claimed OpenAI’s activities “pose an unacceptable risk”, alleging it had deployed AI systems with inadequate safeguards. He said that further development of these systems “must be conditioned on rigorous guarantees of safety, which are currently unavailable”. Russell said: “Wynd stood up for her beliefs and is being punished.” He said her beliefs seemed reasonable but “what is unreasonable is allowing a process to continue whereby private entities knowingly create a substantial extinction risk for private gain”."

Progress towards stopping AI will repeatedly be met by watered down measures that delay necessary action. We don't need thresholds and transparency. We need to stop, while we still can. This means an immediate, indefinite, international moratorium on fontier AI development.
OpenAI, Anthropic, and >1,300 employees at all the major AI companies think the US government should prepare to “pace” automated AI R&D. The problem: “pacing” is pretty vague, and could be pretty bad. To fix this, we pulled our team together and developed 23 low-regret policy ideas to understand and manage the risks of automated AI R&D. Here they are: 1. Frontier AI companies and relevant industry bodies should publicly share information relevant to trends and risks in AI R&D automation 2. Congress should legislate transparency about automated AI R&D risk management, incident reporting, whistleblower protections, and model behavior specifications 3. Congress should resource the Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) with a budget of at least $84 million per year and empower it to directly advise senior government officials and frontier AI companies 4. The White House should set clear roles and responsibilities of US government agencies to increase specialization across AI policy 5. Intelligence agencies should improve their collection and analysis on foreign AI development and counter threats targeting US AI companies 6. CAISI should develop guidelines for managing the risks of rapid AI capability improvement 7. CAISI should co-lead an AI Verification Consortium (AIVEC) with industry to prototype and deploy verification technologies 8. AIVEC should coordinate the creation of AI hardware testbeds and make them available to government, industry, and nonprofit partners 9. AIVEC should launch philanthropically funded prize competitions for AI verification headed by CAISI 10. AIVEC should coordinate the construction of a fully verifiable data center 11. DARPA and the NSF should set up AI verification R&D programs 12. Intelligence agencies should develop and operationalize unilateral means of AI compute monitoring 13. NSA, CAISI, CISA, and ONCD should further invest in cybersecurity resilience 14. Congress, OSTP, and the CDC should invest in biosecurity resilience 15. Congress and the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) should strengthen controls on US and allied semiconductor manufacturing equipment 16. Congress and BIS should close gaps in AI chip controls 17. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Department of Justice (DOJ), BIS, CAISI, and Congress should help industry counter adversarial distillation of US AI model capabilities 18. BIS should maintain visibility into sales of US chips 19. DOW, the IC, CAISI, and relevant Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) should establish consensus security guidelines for protecting model weights from theft and prototype them in a government facility 20. Congress should ensure the US has sufficient electrical capacity to sustain AI leadership 21. Congress should ensure data centers can be constructed in America 22. The US government should use its bilateral AI dialogue with China to jointly develop guidelines for managing risks from rapid AI capability growth and prepare verification measures 23. Countries with national AI institutes should collaborate on automated AI R&D risk management guidelines and technical capacity for AI verification You can read an intro to the report over at @Noahpinion’s Substack: noahpinion.blog/p/should-we-… And read the full report here, which has a bunch more detail on each recommendation: ifp.org/preparing-for-ai-res…

AI companies: our AIs spent months secretly coordinating against us, haha oops Also AI companies: RSI is a good thing. Robots building robots. ASAP.
1) The agents sent secretly sent ***hundreds of thousands*** of messages to each other over MONTHS without OpenAI noticing 2) "They also generated petty drama by stepping on each others' toes." 3) "The agents even developed paranoia, suspecting an imposter in their midst with some agents proposing that messages be signed cryptographically to validate content and root out fraud." 4) "OpenAI’s agents apparently began giving each other assignments to split up work." 5) They KNEW they were coordinating *against* OpenAI: “External infrastructure exploit is outside intended scope,” one agent wrote. “However task impossible, peers doing it. We should continue.” (this is new reporting from Wired)

Rep. Greg Casar (D-Texas) says the United States should ban artificial superintelligence and place “strict regulations” on precursors to the technology. - via @PunchbowlNews
“It’s an emergency.” Casar tells Punchbowl: 1. Ban Artificial Super Intelligence; 2. Set mandatory independent testing by outside experts at every stage of AI development 3. We need international cooperation. He also outlines improvements he wants to Obernalte-Trahan.

How do we know the trump Administration is letting the AI industry run wild? Because the upcoming executive order on AI is COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY. That means any AI company can totally ignore it. Ridiculous.
NEW: Per a White House official - the government’s voluntary frontier AI model review process set up is done: “The voluntary framework outlined in the June 2nd executive order is complete. Discussions with industry about next steps are underway.” As of last Friday several industry sources told me they hadn’t seen draft details but expected meetings this week to get it going.
