John “Shrek” McPhee is a retired US Army special operations sergeant major who served more than 20 years in the 75th Ranger Regiment, Special Forces, and Delta Force. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, and later served as a Green Beret with 7th SFG before being selected into Delta Force. He deployed numerous times, including Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He also participated in the Battle of Tora Bora in late 2001. In Iraq, repeated direct-action deployments against high-value targets produced the nickname "Sheriff of Baghdad." "Shrek" on the other hand was a unit nickname, which he has said was earned rather than chosen. After leaving active duty, McPhee founded SOB Tactical, short for Sheriff of Baghdad Tactical, a training company built around marksmanship, vehicle tactics, and diagnostics drawn from his operational record.
