I very rarely check-in in-person, so always end up forgetting the fact the check-in desks often don’t open before a few hours before the flights, so when there is problem with online check-in, I get stuck waiting for hours

Everything is such a pain nowadays. Had an upgrade voucher with @HolidayInn - can you just upgrade it on the website? Of course not. You need to ring them. So I ring them. The person on the phone upgrades me but moves me from a non-smoking to a smoking room. Had to call again!
