Dear School Leaders: Please don't use "We leave that decision up to the discretion of the PLC" as an excuse not to challenge professionally irresponsible practices.
Your responsibility isn't to protect bad decisions or antiquated practices that hurt kids in the name of "supporting team decision-making." Protecting learners > protecting team decisions and professional autonomy.
In the words of my friends Anthony Muhammad and Luis Cruz, "Your school becomes the worst behavior you will tolerate."
So quit tolerating bad behavior -- particularly in the name of allowing teams to make their own decisions.

ALT "Being a positive leader doesn’t mean being overly optimistic. Instead, positive leadership is about maintaining hope and determination in the face of adversity. It’s about seeing problems as opportunities, setbacks as temporary and believing in the collective strength of your team. A positive leader embraces the hard moments with a calm assurance that no matter what comes our way, together we will find a way forward." —Principal Mark Gonyea
