France is a fiscal heaven... ... for billionaires The top 0.01% most wealthy are barely paying income taxes, evading their duty through questionable "fiscal optimizations". They'd have to contribute a lot more in the US Taking all taxes combined, the average frenchmen pays twice as much taxes than billionaires do (52% vs 27%) source: @gabriel_zucman

It also dawned on me at Google I/O that the cost of the DMA to Apple might be that the engineers that otherwise would’ve been improving the App Store were instead working on DMA compliance. Google, on the other hand, didn’t have much work to comply and just announced a bunch of great Play Store features last week. This is another “I sure hope Apple proves me wrong at WWDC” moment. You can learn more about Google’s announcements in my @SubClubHQ interview with Sarah Karam who runs the Play Store Partnerships team: subclub.com/episode/insider-…

Lessons from Apple's 2023 report (released last week): 1. total visitors up by 11.9% while total downloads are only up by 6.9% --> should we infer download intent is down because of better promotions of activity in installed apps? or other? apple.com/legal/more-resourc…
Little late but finally got through the App Store Transparency Report -> here's a thread with what I'm taking out of it #ASO

3. WAU completing a Search are up by 6.8% while Total WAU are up by 11.9% --> the share of weekly users who search decreased from 56.8% to 54.2% YoY Nevertheless, interesting parallel with visitors growing faster than searching visitors --> what do users who don't do?)

4. 13.12% of the apps that make top10 search results of at least 1,000 queries do so consistently, vs. 14.1% last year --> This suggests search is becoming more top heavy despite the increase in the number of apps YoY

Il est tentant de se dire "l'Europe fait n'importe quoi 🙄". Mais le problème, ce n'est pas le Digital Markets Act. Le problème, c'est comment les Gafam interprètent ce texte

Having finally gone through the new Apple rules for external purchase link, what I find most interesting is the implication that all services attached to IAP processed by Apple represent only 3% of the total value they provide with the App Store 🤔

The troyan horse of US big tech within EU is finally being overriden, so the law can start getting enforced. 5 years of inaction thanks to @DPCIreland
Replying to @johnnyryan
GDPR enforcers across Europe also voted by majority to say that the Irish DPC's was not complying with the GDPR because it failed to impose a fine against Meta. Paragraph 271 of the EDPB Decision.

I'm expecting to see the recurring "Is search dead for ASO?" debate start trending again as a result of finding such numbers. But imo the real question should be "How do we make a better job at organizing so much information"

This will be especially crucial as we'll soon see 3rd party stores entering iOS and claiming they will be a game changer
